I hate to say it, but I think Melrose has the start of Parkinson's I'm sad to say, just watch his hand shaking ... he sounds like Ali in the late 70s

The skill is definitely there.

I’m not saying I know this or this is in any way hypothetical, but how long is long enough to determine that there isn’t going to be the proverbial put together and this is what he is?

I think we're in the this is what he is range. The Flyers have to get their team game stronger and then maybe some players can find some consistency. The problem is that it is wide ranging and so random. From one game to the next you don't know who is going to play well and who isn't. It's just a mess.

Didn’t see the game. Am I reading the stats wrong or did they just go 0 for 9 in the shootout?

They are pacing him ...

Don't want to wear him out right? This is right up there with Ristolainen is the team's best defenseman.

The effort was slightly better, but the result was the same. Hart deserved a better outcome.

It is?? Based on what?
- jd250

He makes the odd play that not every player can make. His skating is not atrocious. He has shown the ability to make very good passes. But the feel, awareness, positioning, routinely triggering transition, these types of things aren’t consistently demonstrated. Maybe he learns, but he isn’t THAT young anymore. His next contract will be interesting. I think it gets harder to sell the potential of the unknown/possible growth

Tk is another one. The end of the year numbers tend to be there more often than not but he just has huge stretches of being virtually invisible.

I’m usually a glass half full guy, but this team isn’t making the playoffs. If I’m the GM, I’m listening to all offers. I’m trying to talk to all players to waive their NTC or NMC. I’m collecting as many picks as I can, evaluate all talent - let the kids play, and really look for a new coaching staff that teaches structure with emphasis on effort.

The realization that this team wasn't making the playoffs was evident back in November. I don't have any issue with the GM listening to all offers. I have a problem with the GM that is doing the listening.

That Ellis deal didn’t help out the Flyers at all. Actually it helped the Preds - they aren’t missing the glass man at all.

Honestly, I thought I’ve gotta be reading it wrong. 0 for 9?

I see your point, but who is out there that would fit the bill? Maybe the GM that sold off all of the Rangers for all of those picks before getting canned if available?

Minus Morin. And goulbourne who are the flyers style players we have over drafted the past 10 years?
- Peter Richards

So agree with this response! I can't think of anyone else besides morin and ghoul either. I don't get it why people keep posting about "Flyers style players" as if we have all of these tough guys. We have been one of the least physical teams in the league and one of the lowest fighting major teams for years. Fun fact: last time we made the Cup finals we were #2 in fighting majors that season. I am not endorsing fighting as I know it isn't a big part of the game anymore but stop it with the Flyers style players nonsense.

Nope. Gorton is the head of Hockey operations for the Habs now.

they did have some decent pieces to move on the veteran player front. Nash, zuccarello, mcdonaugh. Old enough to not have a ton of term left but not do old enough they were dust.

I don’t know if fletcher has a ton to pawn off. The giroux deal, should it occur, should hopefully be pretty similar for you regardless of who is the GM. If CF discussed anything that isnt futures oriented he needs his phone line cut

Well, I’m fearful of what may come. If the GM sells off pieces and gets fleased, the club will be set back another decade.

I have a hard time seeing this team getting some cap space and not using it. You know they aren't going to sit back. They'll dive into free agency if they can to take another "run" at it. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Didn't see the game cause, well you know, Comcast doesn't broadcast Flyers games despite owning them. Expected to see the game on tonight and I saw Mikey Miss's ugly face instead. Anyway, I'm only going by stats. I noticed that basically the bottom 6 forwards dressing for this team aren't NHL level forwards. Frost was 5 for 13 on faceoffs with 1 hit and 2 giveaways, and he was -1 on the night. Looks like another stellar night for him. I saw a highlight of the second Isle goal and York looked very timid going into the corner to get that puck. Perhaps he was tired and at the end of the shift? Losing teams find a way to lose. It seems that the Flyers have at least been competitive lately, but when you go into every game expecting to lose that's exactly what you do.

On a positive note, the Flyers have Coots signed for EIGHT more years!!! Yippee!!!
