The only language I care they speak is winning.

Then the current management team must just be grunting at the players like cavemen.

I know but Bergevin had worked and lived in Chicago for years. Take someone who hasn't had that and that can be an issue...
- Karine Hains

yeah, I respect your opinion but I find it's a rather weak argument, I don't think there are many people working in the NHL that have such a poor level of English that it actually affects the quality of their work...

they'll soon be adding a "covid" column on the NHL stats sheet
- Pat1993

(frank), now I will have to look to the right of the right column.

My point was simple; You're an ass-hat and I don't want to be associated with you. That's all. I'm anti ass-hat. Keep back peddling though
- Takemedrunkimhome

I’m back peddling? Your post right there is is a prime example of dodging and weaving internet style. I can tell you have a lot of practice in it.

so far there have been more people complaining about the fact that the guy they hired had to speak French, but thank you for sharing your ignorance with us, it's quite astonishing.
- Pat1993

And my original post only was directed at those who decry the hiring cause English is his first language. So I fail to see your point.

Examples aside it is somewhat simple:

Being bilingual is an advantage.

Making being bilingual the number one qualification for the job thus eliminating many top candidates is a disadvantage.

Kinda agree (isssh) it should be at least with a very small limited french or the will to learn very quickly

I mean i'm fine with Bob gainey level type of deal, and we are not hiring them to read the news…

I mean Bergevin , Julien, Therrien...their level were frankly horrible

Newsflash
The Vancouver Canucks have delayed the hire of a new GM. Apparently it makes for a difficult decision when having restricted GM candidates to being birthed in British Columbia. Ray Ferraro said no. So did Joe Sakic. Stevie Y is said to be happy in Detroit.
They are apparently still considering Paul Kariya, Cliff Ronning and Geoff Courtnall. Sure they don't have any experience, but they are born in BC!

Cute, but the first and the third one we will need 3 perhaps even 4 years to tell if it was a good hiring or not !

I will do a review of my grading in 4 years, this is preliminary and based on experience, results and context.

What do you have against Gorton? Rangers did a textbook succesful rebuild with him.

Why did he fired then? Why didn't Boston keep him after the interim? There's something sus there. But I gave him a C because of some of the players in brought in New-York
