Anyway I'm more hungry now than out-of-breath. None of the indoor malls with food courts (rare in these parts these days) have what I'm savoring right now.

Too many strip-malls (the "mall" bit subjective) with a food joint here or there. But mostly just chain joints that occupy the out-parcels of the big box stores. I do still only try to patronize the local joints that emphasize the quality of their offerings and their loyalty to their regulars over any atmosphere/ambiance and price concerns, and then just stick to certain chains when on travel (for business, which is rare these days) and don't have the time to find a good local place to eat.

But even back in the days when I constantly traveled for work, there was always a colleague or client that I could find that would have excellent recommendations for the good local eateries. On vacation, we just tended to wander around the neighborhood we were in until we found a place that seemed to be reasonably busy with what appeared to be the locals and just committed to the adventure of unknown.
