moot point
the net is already cast, its going to be Patrick Eeeeee Roy - Xizord
really curious to see if Gorton and Hughes will want to work with him...

I get, I said a zillion times here I want to best coach period, even if he chinese speaking only
But, I would want to see a will to learn and a bit of progress on the french language after a while, thats all - Xizord
On one hand I get that. On the other I see 31 other markets where I don't have to deal with any of that. Talent is a finite resource and I think owners should do whatever they can to make their franchise as attractive as possible to talent |

can you even put money on Vigneault becoming Montreal's next coach? is that a bet that would even be accepted? - DoubleDown
There is always somebody somewhere who will take your money |

I bet the next coach will be from Kirkland's midget C team Greg Skoudalis and "assisted" by Paul Maurice

the fact of the matter is though that MTL is a different market, whether you like it or not... so it takes a certain kind of individual that is willing to work with that, and there are positives that come with it as well (it's not just a francophone torturing hell... lol)

I agree that it's a different market. How they handle that issue at times is what's in question. As I've said forever, I get why they have some of the language rules for a position like GM but that doesn't mean the reason they have these rules is something you can defend. Whether you like it or not, it is a policy that potentially limits the team |

Yes. They all have their pros and their cons. Smart franchises try to increase their pros and limit their cons |

yeah, we obviously won't ever agree on this, but I do think that there is a cultural significance to consider with the habs, and the French language isn't something that will ultimately stop them from winning.

what I like with TMDIH though is that we can have completely different opinions without needlessly insulting each other. sorry for the boring hockey talk
