I hate when we invite company over for a Q, get some great steaks, and one of them wants it well done... I understand it is their steak, but Christ.
- bixll

Famous night in the Wedgie extended family:

We were at my parents' house for a BBQ, as my sister and brother-in-law were visiting (they live in England).

My one brother who was in charge of the BBQ started taking orders, and got pissy when my sister-in-law (my other brother's wife) ordered medium-well.

While eating her medium-well steak at dinner, she announced to all of us she was pregnant.

We still give my brother a hard time about it.

We have a sign in our backyard near the Q that reads "If you ask for your steak done well you're getting chicken".

Love my Weber but the best steaks I've made have been on the stove.

Heat cast iron pan on broil ..take it out and put it on the stove top ..fire the gas burner up to high ....oil and season your room temp cut ...3/4 mins per side on the stove top and she's wonderful.

*Put the hood vent on high and open the windows ...she's going to get smokey but it's worth it.

Once a year my wife and I share a Tomahawk and cook it on the stove ...I'm drooling just thinking about it.

My wife took a cooking course at George Brown (poop, must be 20 years ago now).

They taught her to sear a steak with your frying pan on stove top, then pop it in the oven at a lower temperature.

We haven't done a steak on the BBQ since.

Although I'm still trying to get up the guts to do one in the pizza oven, with various cast iron pans.

There's a spot in Helsinki called Löyly that serves a mean reindeer tartare

So delicious

Love to try that.

Same! As well as they have played most of this season, no guaranty they will get by the 1st round, expecially knowing that even though they will likely get over 110 points, they will face one of the top 5 or 6 teams in the NHL while a team like Colorado can roll over a poopbag team like San Jose. Forget any trade unless it improves the team now and down the road.

So right now what team in the east is guaranteed getting through the first round? Florida is hot as hell but could still end up playing Boston and lose in the first round. The Leafs need to take shots when they have a legitimate shot to take. Cap might dictate that rental is the only market available.

Sure wish Pittsburgh used your logic. Would have had one less consistent great team to worry about the last 2 decades.

My general rule about cooking is "The French do it perfect" .....the only reason I don't do it on the stove every time is the smoke/maintenance and the convenience of sipping beers in the yard while the Q is warming up. That 20 minutes is critical to my mental health.

Agreed.

This team needs a run at bare minimum or we are back peddling.

it takes a spreadsheet to figure it all out, and I had to cook 4 different donnesses for 8 people on the aforementioned new years

my conclusion is that steak is fine to serve close to room temp

do the different cooks one at a time instead of trying to take them all off at the same time, the well dones first, then rares last

the ones that cook longer need to rest longer anyway

Pretty amazing we're short of the 1/2 way mark and the Top8 in the East are almost set.

All 8 have legit chances to go on a run. Goaltending and luck could be a big variable. Fill the holes, add some depth and lets do this.

Pitt hasn't had MAF in net in a long time.

The point is they added to many of their runs to build up their franchise which consisted of Crosby, Malkin, Letang and MAF/Murray. Those talented players drive the bus and bring in guys like Bunting who are willing to play for cheap to make a name for themselves for another contract.

People said Pitt would be horrible by this time because of all the picks they have traded...quite the opposite. Talent brings in talent.

This works well and better chefs use this technique - need a good fan to not smoke up the house though. Searing in butter and seasoning while searing is great. A great BBQ is tough to beat though.

We still eat it quite a bit but I've entered my "lets share one" phase of life.
