Lots of organizations have different make ups and power structures but for those on the Gorton will do everything and run the show camp my question is simply why would anybody really want that job then? If you're just a puppet everybody will know so why take your career down that path?
My guess is Gorton runs it like the NYR where he works with a green GM and they delegate responsibilities. If Hughes for an example I imagine those contract negotiation experiences will be helpful. I imagine he'd have thoughts on player development from his experiences. And while Hughes is getting up to speed on drafting and trades for example, Gorton can take the lead until Hughes is on the same page. - Takemedrunkimhome
this. to me Gorton will be in charge of amateur scouting, drafting, players development...it's his forte. and act as a senior advisor to the GM for big trades/contracts.
but the day to day hockey decisions, it will be the GM. he will be accountable for every moves. so yes he will consult Gorton on big moves, all GMs around the league do. but he will have the final word on it. both Molson and Gorton were pretty clear on that. |

I never said that.
I said Gorton will run the show, does not mean the GM will sit there and make coffee all day. But those expecting the GM to run the show are clearly delusional - when big decisions need to be made, it will be Gorton that has the final say. - Mashadar
I'd like to think Gorton is there to build consensus...around what he wants them to do in the end |

see previous post. no one will take that GM job if they do not have the final word. except maybe Louis de Ville Mercier. |

my assumption is that it will be Gorton's blueprint, and the GM's job to execute it. i'm sure the GM will have autonomy. waiver pick ups, trading guys like Ben Chiarot, etc. but on bigger, more strategic moves it will be collaboration. - DoubleDown
So, moving Benji wouldn't be strategic?
Come on..

not disagreeing with you but this is still kinda speculative, unless you have some sort of insider info on how things will be managed. |

It is more deductive than speculative.
You don't hire Gorton so that Gorton hires his own boss or someone he reports to... it is the other way around - you hire Gorton so he hires the guy that reports to him.

If you think the soon-to-be-named GM is gonna be running the show, more power to you.

i'm looking into it right now.
i guess i'm taking the rams -3.5 but i'm looking for an any time TD scorer to start one of those crazy parlays with too. |

i don't see it as such. that's a sell off, a horse trade. you're just looking for maximum return, and nothing you get in return is likely to be of great value. symba could make that trade.

it's gotta be kupp. you usually go with a RB but cooper kupp is just the best. -165! never mind. |
