I really didn’t mean his drafts, I meant getting draft picks in return for trading players. I hope that the Flyers aren’t snookered. - RustyPipes
No, no, I get it. Ive said before, I dont trust Chuck trading lunches with a preschooler and coming out on top |

On a similar note, I was listening to NHL Network on SiriusXM a couple of days ago and a beat reporter from the LA Kings mentioned that the Kings are targeting a defenseman and mentioned Provy by name. I was a bit shocked, but I suppose that sort of thing happens often. |

Other than Claude and JVR who on this team did CF not directly acquire or sign to a new contract? I wasn’t a fan of Hextall either, but this is CF’s team - Dkos
I know. I was making fun of the true purpose of Bob Clarke’s podcast interview. Deflect blame for the current mess to Hextall so his buddy Fletcher can keep his job |

That is interesting. They are a well-run team. If correct, it is a great barometer on how the knowledgeable folks within the league view the talent that our FO cannot harness. We are like the mine that keeps and buys dross and gives away gold and silver. |

3 more years at 6.75. Hate to sell now since he has not played consistently well in maybe a calendar year, but then again when will that change?
Tonight he was an absolute train wreck. If you are going to rip it to shreds it’s a move you have to consider. Just don’t know what his value is.
York was not great tonight, but the fact that he is their best d right now is scary. He is a prime example of taking advantage of an opportunity. Something Frost needs to learn. |

2. Philadelphia Flyers - Nolan Patrick, C, Brandon (WHL)
NHL Central Scouting final North American ranking: 1
2016-17: 33 games, 20-26-46
The son of former NHL forward Stephen Patrick and nephew of former NHL defenseman James Patrick, Nolan was the second-youngest captain in the Western Hockey League. A right-handed shot, Patrick missed 35 games because of an upper-body injury, but has 205 points (93 goals, 113 assists) in 163 career WHL games. Patrick (6-foot-2, 198 pounds) possesses the hockey sense, vision and skill to become a top-line center in the NHL. In 2015-16, he was tied for the WHL playoff scoring lead with 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists) in 21 games and was named MVP of the WHL playoffs after helping Brandon win the Ed Chynoweth Cup.
NHL.com analysis: Flyers take most NHL-ready player in draft. He was only prospect to visit Philadelphia, and they clearly were satisfied his injury issues were behind him. |

York is not and has not been their best defenseman. That goes to Provorov and Sanheim. |

You are probably right but if your best Dman so far have 11 points and 14 points and are a combined -4, that helps explain where they are as a team.

The stats say he has been since he entered the lineup. Small sample for sure.

York obviously delivered a breakout game on Saturday, scoring his first NHL goal, ranking third on the defense in time on ice with 22:02 minutes and posting a defense-high 72.22 percent on-ice expected goals share at even strength. It was a standout performance from start to finish, and he justly received karmic reward in the form of his first NHL tally.
entering Monday night’s game, he had the best five-on-five numbers of anyone on the Philadelphia blue line. Small sample? Sure. But also a very positive early sign, given the headwinds that come with playing on this particular incarnation of the Flyers. |

He's not playing against the same competition. Last night York had a 37.50 CF%, 28.72 xGF% and scoring chances were 4-6 Islanders. He has played very well for a young player and is showing that he should've been in the lineup much sooner but I would not label him the team's best defenseman.

I don't understand your thinking, half the time you say we don't develop properly, ie... rushed Provy and others, but now saying York should've been up sooner. Its not an exact science, and usually doesnt hurt to give a prospect AHL time until they prove they need to be up. York was not blowing the doors off in the AHL. He struggled at times, and probably would not have been up if there wasn't injuries.
would anyone trade our 1st this year...possible top 5 pick and our 1st next year, not lottery protected for the chance to pick top 2 this year. I do think Bedard next year will be better than Wright this year though. Not sure what the gurus have Wright projected at.... Generational? Elite? Top line player?

With the exception of possibly Hart, who on this team can you say lets really build around this player.
They do not have that type of player. Look at other teams "core". Then the Flyers. |

That's an easy answer...NONE!! The fact that Giroux is going to the All-Star game at the age of 34 cause there is no one better on this sad sack team is all you need to know. And this is NOT all on Fletcher! Hextall missed on waaaaayyyy too many draft picks when you go back and look at in depth. It's funny that the Pens hire Hextall and yet they have Brian Burke there to baby sit him. |

The franchise is a complete and total joke
Half the roster is garbage
The HC is an inept placeholder
The developmental staff is pathetic
The medical/training staffs appear to be borderline incompetent
The GM is a hack who has never built a contender in a decade of being a GM
The senior “advisors” while once great players, are 2 old men who should be out on a golf course somewhere. Neither has a clue about how to build a championship team in 2022.
Finally, the exec in charge of the entire debacle is a clueless suit who has no business running an NHL franchise.
Without a complete, top to bottom overhaul, this team doesn’t have a prayer going forward. Please, for the love of God, sell the team

Right now Fletcher is almost just as equally guilty. He has chosen to resign these players. Fletcher hasn't moved the needle at all in any positive way.
What will happen is Fletcher will stay as President of Hockey ops. Hire an ole boy member club GM.
