Many teams have cap issues. The closer it gets to the deadline, the easier it would be to fit players in. The few teams that have cap space can get a jump on other teams to try and make deals. Teams that are sellers are going to want more teams involved bidding against each other. It will be interesting to see how the market develops.

Who are the teams ex selke can easily be traded too that you have mentioned?

Coyotes and Sabres perennial bottom feeders, and an expansion team. Unbelievable.

Yeo has repeatedly talked about how the Flyers play tight, or abandon structure at the first sign of trouble.

good read imo

That is so funny tbh. I remember all kinds of habs fans laughing at me when I told them I didn’t think they would make the playoffs this year and that bergevin should be canned.

Not sure what you expected. The reality of it is with Ellis hurt this team is no different than last season. We lost Niskanen and that created a hole. Ellis was brought in to fill that hole but hasnt really played. Injuries all around have not helped.

The team struggles to transition from D to offense and the offence struggles to win board battles. There were moments in this game where you saw them winning battles but they dont do it consistently. The offence seems to pretty much consist around passing it around until someone flubs it and tuns it over. I would like to see some creativity from some players. Guys are standing still and it makes it easy to defend. You have to make space by causing the other team to lose their coverage.

This was a winnable game but at this point in the season the loss is better for the team.

Best ability is availability and Ellis will NEVER be healthy enough to count on.

to take a stab and answer joes question from last blog on how long hextalls plan wouldve taken. I would guess, he wasnt even half way done the draft and develop strategy, and had 8 first round picks. So guess he'd need another 10 1st round picks to get where we would be a contender. Its a slow process to draft and develop if you want to stay competitve and not go all in on the rebuild. The JVR and Jakes signings really set things back, being good enough to be a bubble team, but not good enough for really good picks. It was an awful strategy. Either rebuild or dont. Cant do the in between thing

Picks are worthless unless you draft effective, top 6 players WITH SOME OF THEM.

Hextall did none of that. Only regret is he wasn't sent packing earlier.

There are so many issues. So many problems. I watch them like I used to watch the Phillies in the early 2000's. Just tune in to see who they're throwing out there and stay tuned to see how bad it gets.

TK is A professional in this league who is paid to score goals. hasn't scored in 20 games. With his playing time, PP time, this dude seems to be trying to not score. It's a joke. If you go to the net every single game multiple times, and give an effort, a puck will go off your pants or something. It's simply not good enough.

Not here to rag on one player because they are all horrific, but the problems with TK are just so glaring and part of the bigger issue with this organization. Comes down to effort, who wants it more.

Stand at the net in a men's league game, you'll pot more than TK in a season. It really can be THAT easy to get garbage in this game, which then you use to grow your game and not be such a pigeon.

His effort on the tying goal last night was unacceptable. Completely gave up. Should be sat until the organzation can find somewhere for him to go.

Same here as that is an embarrassment.

Further, imo chuck or Dave Scott needs to face the music and explain what their plan is going forward. I sense zero and I mean zero leadership coming from these guys.

Engage with the fans even if it’s unpleasant. The fact that the only info we’ve had discussing the state of the team was when Clarke went off on hextall is beyond embarrassing. The next day someone should have said something to the effect of we are not discussing the past etc and taken the high road even if they believe hextall screwed up and at least stated that they feel the frustration of the fan base, and that the plan is x or y. Everyone is paralyzed.

I have zero idea why he’s no longer trying. Maybe he wants out?

I've been hesitant to accept it, but when some people talk about things being a little too comfortable the last 10 years within the organization, perhaps Konecny is a direct result of that culture. I've had jobs, been there a while, where no one seemed to really give a (frank) one way or another, and I performed accordingly. It happens. It'll never be fixed, so it's time to move on from all of them. Every single one.

Stop with the false narrative Clarke went off. He was asked a question at the end of an interview about his career. He answered it. Wasn't embarrassing at all imo

I wonder if comcast has told Scott we are not paying for anymore coaches at this time so make do with what you have in the organization.

It’s not a false narrative. He did not need to comment on that the way he did and it was not helpful. It just makes the org look worse if that possible. I felt the same when he continually bashed lindros in the news 20 years ago. It’s just not helpful.

Does anyone think Hart can withstand this and still develop into what we all hope he will? Destroying this dude right in front of our very eyes. Trade him to a competent team, I'd love to see him become a superstar. He's the only player I see with a consistent effort, but that can only last so long before he becomes TK and just starts giving up on plays. Once that happens, it's over.

after that go ahead goal where Giroux for some reason decided to skate through his crease and knock his stick out of his hands, I wouldnt have blamed him if he pulled a full 1995 Patrick Roy and just started throwing his hands up every time the puck was in his zone.

It most certainly is a false narrative. Everything else is your opinion. Not a fact.

He doesn't seem to be too bothered, that's for sure.

If he showed half of the effort that MacEwen shows, the dude would be leading the team in goals. If you're on a pro hockey team and Zac MacEwen is outskating you, it's time to start thinking if this whole pro hockey thing is really for you.

The organization sends a lot of mixed signals. Is it committed to winning? If so, why is Yandle still out there? How many guys on that team believe that Brown, Seeler, Connauton, Yandle, Willman and MacEwen are going to be beat better NHL teams? I did not watch last night but I thought he played hard against Boston. We don’t have a lot of fast forwards with hard shots who can stick handle. I attribute a lot of this drought to our plan and structure.

They tried to send out a message in the off season that they were committed to winning, and many of us thought "hey, they're doing something" when it came to the decisions made for the season.

It's now clear, that was all bull. Top to bottom, the people in charge of this organization do not care at all about winning. Hextall was not my favorite GM, and I tend to agree with most of the criticisms of him, but I truly believed he at least gave a poop about the Flyers. When he got canned, it was a flailing, reactionary move to make it seem like Comcast and ownership truly cared about the success of the franchise. They don't. And that attitude, whether they know it or not, has infected everyone that's been here for more than 5 seasons.
