I think the opposite. Trading for 2 playoffs of Miller is going to net a better return than 1 season of him. Miller's 5 mil contract will be easy enough to fit this season with it being pro-rated, and then the team can figure it out in the offseason. Canucks can also take back a contract to make it work. Plus the team could just LTIR some dude into the playoffs and voila - NewYorkNuck
Again this is old news & lacks what is the return. Just saying…
Not the point. Petey isn’t a leader.
Everybody says Miller will be the best to trade for the best return without presenting any names. Far too vague aka no meat to it. - Nighthawk
What does Petey have to do with anything?
Miller will net the largest and best return. It would also hurt the team in the short term. Trading Miller is about looking to the future with the age of the core and how his next contract will shape up to be. Gaining young, proven assets (Newhook, Fiala, whoever people are throwing around) doesn't change the fact it's the smart move to make for the franchise's long term competitiveness
Why do so few ppl offer up to who for what? It’s only playing at GM. Nobody will be right or wrong just good for the purpose of speculating to see how we will look.

If you trade Miller you’re relying on Petey to be front & centre.
Fiala is a hot & cold flake.
Newhook is a 1C potential?
Longterm is good but other key players will start to age out of the window then what?

It's still going to be a lot less teams to work with at the deadline opposed to the summer. Have we not learned this already? Deadlines are not what they used to be anymore. Even more so in the current situation of the pandemic. This summer the cap goes up 1 mil at least...

I don't think 1 mil is going to make or break a team's ability to fit Miller in. That could easily be maneuvered by taking back a contract or sending someone down on their team.
From everything I've read, people/writers/sports heads seem to think having 2 PO runs of a PPG player on a 5 mil contract is better and worth more than a single season of it.
Teams tend to pay more at the TDL, though I agree the landscape is/has/will be different with Covid this season.

I'm basing what I think on post lock out history plus the pandemic.... not speculation that history wont repeat itself.

The 1m could allow more teams to bid on him. Sending down contract exposes them to waivers.

Yes 2 PO’s is higher value 👍 - Nighthawk
If 1 Mil is really holding that many teams back/preventing the Canucks from getting a better return, they could just retain 1 mil that would theoretically be made up in the summer with an increased cap.
Someone give me the best deal Boeser signs for & I’ll do an ACGM. See how it plays out. - Nighthawk
Seeing everyone always turns to Minny I would look at Joel Eriksson Ek . We need a center and he is Long term and young. That would be my choice from Minny.

They are weak at centre. I doubt they trade him for Boeser.
