Miller is a staple on the PK unit that ranks 4th in the NHL. Another stat - TPC
Fox and Igor have a lot to do with this also.

I just don't think he has been as bad as you think. Up and down this year, sure. But not all development is Linear. He is coming off a great rookie season and is now seeing his minutes rise and playing against better players. The big picture is he is playing 20 mins a night right now for a playoff contending team. He isn't coming out of the lineup for a few bad plays here and there. - TPC
Fair take. If it's what we have, it's what we have. I hope he succeeds - maybe the hype train was a little premature on this one. It's just tough to see Jones come in and play with heart, now Schneider while there's a "ho-hum" in a regular slot.

Obv not, but if it gets the message across that work needs to be put in to keep your spot - yes. Maybe I'm watching another game but the Miller I see just seems to become defeated after a misplay. I'd be fine with a give away if he fought to take it back, kept skating, took the body... literally anything. - fourtrax23
On the flipside of this, this kid keeps composure and doesn't compound an error by going out of his way to fix a mistake.
Now I'm not absolving him of any mistakes, just think that when they are made, he moves on to the next play like we would expect our veterans to do. I think while it may not look like he is skating hard, he takes two strides and is with much of the opposition. |

It applies to ALL OF THEM. Unless of course, you have a fanbase that is centered somewhere outside of reality!! - Tonybere
So thats it, we need to play Chytil with Panarin to make him remotely serviceable. Got it. |

What are the qualifications?
1. Be a teenager
Or
2. Be out of the NHL for years
Nigel Dawes ???? He was just mentioned in this thread last week.
We must have typed his name 3 times, and he appeared |

The bar is set high because this is the NHL, not the Jasper Falls travelling league. You can emote all you want, but the kids just not ready. He floats around the ice hoping the puck will hit him. His drive is nearly non-existent, he skates like he has cement boots, he's afraid to take the body. You got to see 2 kids yesterday called up who looked hungry and made an impact. I just don't see that with Miller at all. He turns the puck over and lowers his head - plays over - no fight whatsoever. Maybe if he was demoted he'd have something to play for. - fourtrax23
Oh boy.
emote
[ ih-moht ]
See synonyms for: emote / emoting on Thesaurus.com
verb (used without object), e·mot·ed, e·mot·ing.
1. to show or pretend emotion:
to emote over the beauties of nature.
2. to portray emotion in acting, especially exaggeratedly or ineptly; behave
theatrically:
ex. The actress emoted for all she was worth.
See, nothing to do with the use if emoticons.
Some examples of your emotional OPINIONS:
Ex.1 - He floats around the ice hoping the puck will hit him. Ridiculous
Ex.2 - His drive is nearly non-existent Impossible to prove
Ex.3 - he skates like he has cement boots His skating is highly touted
Ex.4 - he's afraid to take the body not physical, but to say afraid is silly
Ex.5 - He turns the puck over and lowers his head - plays over I have a hard time believing this could be true and his coaches would still be putting him out there 20+ min. a night.
Ample evidence that you have formed an opinion based on a few incidents and ignore empirical evidence that shows he is doing ok. I doubt I've changed your mind one bit, but I don't really care. Just hate seeing people beat up on a kid who has actually been rather impressive to start his career. |

YOUR definition of remotely servicable.
He had assists and was not on the ice for a goal against in back to back games before he was moved to the 2nd line. Was that terrible play? Was it because someone told him he might move up in 4 days time and he got a burst of inspiration?
The kid has shown a lack of creativity and vision. I have admitted as much. But, when it's due you could give a little credit along with all the criticism. |

I have to believe that this is bogus, actually.
I can't find this posted anywhere on TSN, Hockey Canada or Twitter. Coaches and staff were just named today. So, is someone else picking the team for them??? |

Almost positive it's fake. Shane O'Brien's podcast twitter account tweeted it
Also Fred Brathwaite is 49 years old and hasn't played any pro hockey in 10 years |

I saw 2 bad turnovers in the first period and another early in the second. Then fell asleep. He didnt show me anything worthy of credit in the first half of the game that I watched.
Also, 1 or 2 decent games doesnt make up for a season stinker.
PS: Chytil made a 2 ft pass to Strome to get the secondary assist on that play. He was just there, his contribution to the overall play was minimal. |

Which of those turnovers ended up in the net during the shutout win?
So, what happens to that play if he doesn't make that 2 foot pass to Strome?
I never said he was deserving of intense praise. But, it's clear your default setting is looking for negativity to female dog about.
I've seen Fox make 4 or 5 noticeably bad plays since Christmas. Should he be benched? |

For what it's worth according to Natural Stat Trick Chytil was credited with 0 turnovers last night. Their definition of a turnover might be different from yours, but maybe you are also just looking for things that he does wrong every time he's on the ice. I think we can agree he hasn't taken that next step this year and it's been frustrating but you obviously just hate Chytil and look for any chance you can to come on here and say "I told you so." It gets old, we get it you don't like him.
We're fans of the team and when he puts together a few good games we can be pleased with it without you shooting everyone down pointing out every minor flaw that you see. Nobody is saying he's gretzky |

Try looking at some stats:
Miller is 4th on the team in total ice time behind Fox, Trouba and Zib,
He's 3rd on the team in Takeaways and has less giveaways than takeaways on the year
He ranks 3rd amongst defenseman behind Trouba and Lindgren in hits, only 6 hits behind Lindgren. Is Lindgren afraid to take the body too?
I swear people see one or two plays by guys and it shapes their entire opinion of them. This is why the advanced stats people laugh when people say they use 100% eye test. These aren't even advanced stats they're clear-as-day old school stats that tell you Miller is an integral part of this defense and is playing 20+ minutes a night. But he has a couple of bad turnovers recently and he's an AHL player? |

Gary Bettman must be losing sleep every night over the state of the league if a team full of AHL players is in 3rd place |
