He was the sorta like picking Sam Reinhart and having Draisaitl go after...probably a mediocre analogy |

It could be argued it was also one of the more valuable 2nd round picks made last year. A starting QB that can lead a team to the playoffs with a 2nd round pick is ALWAYS a win. Consider Miami took Tua 5th OA in the same draft.
Now Raegor on the other hand...that hurts - Takemedrunkimhome
the problem is that when they drafted hurts they still had wentz as the starter and he was just an injured year removed from a supposed "MVP until he got injured" season. |

Similar to the 9ers drafting Lance, part of the reason they drafted Hurts was Wentz (like Jimmy) is always hurt and they didn't want to risk losing seasons with a playoff caliber roster due to backup QBs who can't win. Advanced stats suggest in terms of winning games, backup QB is actually a top 10 value position and it makes sense...QB goes down for 3 or 4 games but you can still win a couple and stay in the playoff race.
I like Hurts because even with his deficiencies, he has that "it" factor that winners need. If I were a GM I'd be proud looking back to spend a 2nd on him |

there's the contract involved and everything. trust me, when he drafted hurts it was a mistake. he's seriously lucked out with the way it all turned out because wentz played the 75% of their snaps and hurts looks okay so far, but hurts isn't a franchise QB and they thought they already had one when they drafted hurts. they should have taken a position of real need with their second round pick. if you're looking for a good backup because you're starting to fear your franchise guy might be injury prone, you address that with a later pick than your second rounder when you have holes to fill. |
