Yup.
Media: why did you trade a potential game changing d man?

Yes, she'll have an opinion...and absolutely NO say in it and NO power over the decision. NONE. Anybody suggesting otherwise greatly over values the role a VP of communications has. If she says Mailloux must go my imagination is Gorton gives zero (frank)s and he and Molson decide on their own as was the case before she was hired. Nothing changed - Takemedrunkimhome
Influence is an interesting thing.
There is no formal decision making aspect to it, but there is informal. I would not totally disavow she has influence in some of these things.
To what extent is / will probably never be known.

After all the poop that went their way drafting him, they'll just trade him away?
At this point, keep him and hope that for once Timmins was actually right.
And we should stop treating him like he's Bill Cosby. - Scabeh
If they traded him they would be morons. |

Can't really see any new GM wanting to be the person who trades away a prospect whose value they will never get in return just to placate the mob. - AdamFrench
There is throwing away picks and making deal / packaging players in larger deals.

Well Chantal had one of, if not the most interesting take on the whole Mailloux situation.
The kid will get his chance to redeem himself, as he should.

Oh, I'm not. People who say there aren't different degrees of sex crimes are wrong in my opinion.
That being said, he's a dumb kid. I understand that it was hard to resist drafting him because he was gift wrapped to them at 30th overall. Still, they showed they were pretty tone deft to today's society in general by taking him anyway and thinking there wouldn't be much backlash. Just look back at Timmins interview after the pick when he had a 25 second pause when he couldn't answer a question. They were clueless and unprepared.
Today, it's all about image. It matters, and it will matter in the steps they take with this guy in the future, whether they keep him or not.
I think trading him is still better than what some were asking for, which was renouncing the pick.

Yeah other teams are likely lining up to take on the backlash the Habs are trying to avoid |

Honestly who cares. I'm tired of politics and everything else being part of this team. Kid is talented, take him. Let him play. He has made mistakes and he has room to grow, as do all people at that age. This nonsense and "wokism" is a load of trash. Enough of the garbage already.

I completely understand and I wouldn't have drafted him to avoid all this bullpoop. Timmins and Bergevin were fools.
But what's done is done, if they do trade him away, it needs to be a good hockey trade and not just "getting rid of our own problem" kind of stuff.
So basically, I agree with you.

Its because Ducharme is not a good coach. He's been bad from the very bveginning. He has no clue how to win or play for the future. - hockeyaddict89

I don't think she has a say in it.
My point is that I don't think the new management will keep him.

He's gonna have a hard time keeping his job this summer that's for sure.
Going to the cup final could have given him great job security but what we are seeing is abysmal.... even considering we're basically playing our AHL team.
What's bothering me the most is how guys like Suzuki and Caufield are not progressing, at all. |

Caufield looks completely lost compared to the amazing player we saw last playoffs.
We cannot afford to mess this one up. There's no excuse for him having ONE goal this year.

Being awful is one thing. Being awful and not developing the minimal amount of youth on the roster is another and I have no interest mirroring the Oilers approach from a decade ago |

If Sweden had laws that protect the identity of minors (like we have here), none of this poop would be happening.
So I blame Sweden. |

He should be in the AHL right now.
Ferraro last year was saying in an interview that Caufields 'A' game has always worked, but needs to work on his B, C, D... game. That he won't be shooting on ncaa goalies every night. Crash the net, get in dirty areas, forecheck. Look for other ways to score. Because if you don't the league will figure you out fast. |
