Didn't someone on here mention hiring Hughes as a road to get to Letang and Bergeron when they become FA's ?

meh, 95% of that team has had a career low, in a context where they were always very, very far from being healthy. wouldn't be surprising if many of those guys have a better season next year, if they're healthier... like I said, let bygones be bygones I guess, I just don't want to see them lose in a pathetic fashion all the time again, while you wouldn't mind it.
- Pat1993

that I agree. I think that with a long summer to get healthy, they'll be better next year. but the problem is deeper than that. TB also had a short summer. look where they are in the standings today.
and it's not that I don't mind them losing, but I cannot see how they could become a playoffs team within 6 months. not with all the long contracts they have.

oh come on, TB still have a great roster despite the players they had to let go, while MTL isn't even the same team lol... but yeah a long summer can only do them some good.

maybe not a playoffs team, but not a 31st overall team either....

the difference is that TB has a good team. they don't need to work their ass off at 200% to win. Habs, well they had to, and are still paying the price because injured or tired.
get a better team, get more talented players..., and we won't argue about who should be in net.

so if they get better, but miss the payoffs, what's the point of having Price or Allen in net? might as well finish lower and draft higher. no?

I mean look at the changes, the habs lost Weber, Price, Danault, among others... I get your point but the comparison isn't valid imo

this is where we disagree again, like I said I want to see actual progress.. you don't go from very last team in the league to contender status in one year lol

the comparison is perfect imo. one team keeps on winnng even though they had a short summer.
the other, yes lost some key players, but cannot win 2 games in a row. cannot score a goal. lacks talent. and size.

we'll see progress. but the progress needs to be upfront, forwards, dmen at the blue line. not necessarly in the W column. although it's difficult to imagine they could be as bad again next year, I'll give you that. lol

I think Allen’s likely landing spot is Colorado...wouldn’t be shocked if they took Drouin as well. Not that big on Fleury personally, he needs a good team in front of him and is prone to lapses in concentration, not sure Edmonton is the right fit for him, that D wouldn’t do him any favour.
- Karine Hains

Agreed. I laugh at all the morons that think Edmonton with MAF or Price are somehow instant cup contenders. The team sucks. It’s not just bad goaltending.

yes you can. if kids get better (no reason to think they won't), if you score more goals but still lose, if your special team units improve... this team will get better, they can't be worse. but I don't see them making the playoffs next year. that's why I think they should trade anyone they can to get picks.

usually scoring more goals will equate to more wins, just sayin'... it ain't rocket science. anyways we'll see how it goes, I'd rather stay optimistic and see them take a step in the right direction, not the same poop again lol

Did some last year. The kids who are honour roll will be fine. The 70% kid who only does that because he's not with his xbox... now he's playing during class. Now he's a 60% kid.

Now think about the 60% kid... 50%....

But at least summer school was a joke last year, so maybe they'll be "saved" again this year.

And what’s wrong with the 50% kid??

They’re smarter than you think..

they'll improve slowly but surely over the next 3-4 years.
then they'll make the playoffs.

60% is a pass and there is a certain minimum for summer school.

Sure some are, but most need at least a diploma to have a chance
