I felt hot even when I was a kid and skinny. Admittedly that was a long time ago.

I have lost 45 lbs during Covid. I am down to 230 lbs now.

- PT21

That’s fantastic. I still do my at home workouts during Covid, but my diet still blows, so I’ve stayed about the same. I need to drop 10-15 feel a bit better.

No, not this.

You don't freeze in winter, unless you are naked. And on the beach there is a breeze and bikinis. That's not true in day to day life in the city.

Hot summer makes you feel sluggish. Sweaty summers you have to change clothes after you go out.

Wanna read a book? Fire up the fireplace, pour yourself a stiff one, and settle down on a nice comfy chair.

Winter makes me want to sleep all day and demotivates me

Who will play more games this year? Ryan Ellis or Ben Simmons?

I had a diagnosis of fairly severe diabetes in Feb 2020. (It's endemic in my family). That's why I have to cut down on the booze. And why I had to lose weight this past 18 months. Much better now, but need to drop another 15-20 lbs.

Nothing fun about it, I assure you. And yeah, losing weight is pretty much counting calories and lower carbs. Exercise has little to do with it. It helps, but not that much, unless you are a triathlete or something.

Y’all are nuts! I like my FL winters, 60-75 days and 45-60 nights. Enjoy your snow and ice.

Back up into the mid 70s today. About to go outside, do some work-sunbathing in the tee shirt and shorts, and max-out on the daily dosage of vitamin D.

Because they're not a cap team, and couldn't afford Ellis and Ekholm both making $6.25m.
- Feanor

If we assume that is true, then why did they decide to keep Ekholm over Ellis? Ellis is the better player.

His most recent injuries were a shattered knuckle and a concussion from being elbowed in the head by Corey Perry. Anyone who think this lower body issue should have been predicted in advance, are being childish and absurd.
- Feanor

I agree that this specific injury couldn't have been predicted but I think it's a safe bet that Ellis is going to have issues staying healthy over the rest of the contract. I hope I'm wrong.

There have been a bunch of studies about exercise and diet recently. The body adjusts to the current needs. If you are exercising and losing weight and eating less, the body slows down its energy requirements (BMR).

Which means, once you stop eating less and just have a normal (maintenance) diet and if you keep exercising, the body takes times to adjust. You end up putting much of the weight back on because the body still thinks that because your lifestyle hasn't changed, your energy needs also haven't.

Another thing is, the brain takes time to process stomach 'fullness.' By the time it tells you you are full, you have overeaten. If you stop when you are still a slight tad hungry, it will tell you are actually full 15 mins later.

What do you chalk Giroux never getting injured in his career up to?
- Feanor

At least he has never had any long term injuries. A few games here and there. Remarkably durable for his size.

It’s tough not to be down on the guy because he has played less than a handful of games this year and he had the injury history, albeit some odd ones at times but he still gets hurt a lot. Most disappointing part is it looked like we finally had another perfect fit on that top pair with Provy. Niskanen retires out of nowhere and then this guy can’t even get onto the ice. Provy is bad luck huh.

I’m started into a dry January…and have started to count the carbs…doesn’t help that government just shut everything down again, so no hockey for a 3 more weeks which is great exercise.

so epic, tho

(for that very reason)

that there seems to be a delusion of grandeur about it makes it much more entertaining

Its not about getting injured, every player gets injured at one point in their career. Its how those injured players are handled once they are injured that is bothering me. For example, we can all see Couts was injured this year and to me its was plain as day he had a core injury based on how he was playing. Yet it took Couts getting Covid before he was shut down? Last year it was clear Hayes was not himself also and yet it was not until the off season before he gets surgery and then hurts it again right after most likely because he returned too soon? And now, Ellis returns too soon and he is out, probably for the year the way its going so far? To me its a bad look for the Flyers medical staff.

People who are grossly over weight or who battle weight issues aren't that way because they're not letting their brain process that their full.
