Hinostroza and Pysyk instead of Eakin and Justin Falk
- Hank Balling

his modest offense does not make up for atrocious defense

Pysyk has been an excellent add though.

And even Hayden is an XG% monster.

Atrocious defense is way strong. Cozens looks far worse both in chart form and in plus/minus. Vinnie is providing excellent depth scoring on a steal of a contract.

With the analytics staff we are putting together, the Vinny’s of the world should be easy to find.

If they can get anything at the value at the deadline I’m all for it

Also good to remember the opposite side, they haven't made any expensive mistakes.

Cozens has completely different responsibilities and is a 20 year old. I don’t understand the comparison

Vinnie has scored above expected, 4% over his career shooting %. So that will regress, and he’s been directly responsible for a bunch of goals against from simply not back checking.

There’s a reason he bounces around the league and the idea (I’m not sure it was you, if it wasn’t I’m sorry) that he’s getting a 2nd at the deadline is absurd

That’s incredibly easy to do when you have expectations of losing instead of winning

He is definitely worth a 3rd imo

I haven't perused the list of potential TDL targets so it's definitely possible he's devalued due to lack of name recognition but he would be a strong add for a contender

Friendly bet - he gets a 5th through nothing

No playoff team has Vinnie Hinostroza in their top 6 and absolutely no playoff team wants a 5’9 perimeter player in their bottom 6.

He’s a guy who will always be on a bad team

They played together for large portions of the season and Hinostroza was seen as a person who was holding Cozens back. I don't think that was true

You don’t think Cozens needed better linemates this year?

That’s…interesting

I'll take the bet. 4,500 internet points. I only have 1800 so you'll have to spot me the balance. I'm good for it, I swear.

Idk, to me, Hinostroza is what I hoped Pouliot would be 1400 years ago. I like his tenacity

Both Cozens and Thompson have a long way to come defensively.

What they are both bringing offensively is good to see though.

I just don’t think he fits what any playoff team would want.

just haven’t liked his game outside of some flash plays here or there.

I think he’s a a fine 12-13 forward

They were a cap team at this point a year ago. KA did immense damage his first year.

I was worried about Cozens early in the year when he hadn't scored in however many games going back to last year but he turned it on in a big way. He'll be fine.

And like broads said, he's 20 so he's not going to be a Selke player out of the gate. Frankly he shouldn't be. Let him get some offensive confidence first. Experience will teach him the D game

You're forgetting about covid, though. He's cheap-ish and you can stash him on the taxi squad and have a warm body for when someone invariably tests positive during the playoffs.

Does that mean he's worth a third? I have no idea, probably not, but there is some value in having a cheap guy who's not going to kill you stashed away.

Fair point about depth, but he'd have to clear waivers to go on a taxi squad.

I thought it was just treated as the minors for celery purposes, which in his case makes no difference, I didn't realize they need to pass through waivers. That's dumb.

I could see prysk re sign.

Takes a certain kid of veteran, willing to play 1/2 the games.

Not sure if there's room for him full time?

Miller and butcher gone most likely.

Didn't someone say he wanted to stay beyond this year?
