Wheeler is grossly overrated and, by most accounts, he and Scheifele are shockingly poor teammates.

I liked the first season timeline stuff and had no issue with it but if Season 2 can prevent me from pausing every 7 minutes to explain to my gf where in the timeline they are I'd prefer it

Start with the last episode of season 1. I often do that for the gf. I rewatched the first season about a month ago because I needed something to watch

Ok. Spoilers as best I can recall so likely to be somewhat off:

Geralt saves the queen's daughter and her lover and for payment invokes the law of surprise which ends up being their child Ciri which is his responsibility. He runs away and wants nothing to do with her and when he finally changes his mind Ciri's grandmother won't allow him to take her. This leads to the war as a result of Geralt and Ciri's grandmother going against fate. This also causes Geralt issues with sleeping so he looks for a jin (genie) to help with his insomnia but uses his last wish to try and save Yen's life by bonding them together forever with the wish that they ultimately will die together (I think). Later on a hunt for a gold dragon, Yen finds out Geralt's wish and no longer knows if she actually loves him or if it's the result of his wish so she wants nothing to do with him.
War comes and Ciri's grandmother is dying so she finally sends Ciri to find Geralt.
Season ends with Yen and other magic people fighting against the coming war and Yen realizing her immense power blowing everything up while Ciri figures out she has crazy powers and she and Geralt finally find each other.
