I am fully vaccinated but I am always skeptical of people stating numbers about documented transmissions.
I went to dinner with 14 fully vaccinated people. 4 later tested positive, all with non severe symptoms. Did they get it at dinner that night? Did they all get it from other outings? You never know.

Generally speaking, contact tracing is done according to the path of greatest likelihood. Meaning that if you got Covid and your household member is sick, that would be considered the source. Even if you had a long chat with your friend, such as at that party you mention, where you may have gotten it really.

Next you move to social interactions. If someone gave you the virus in that way, chances are, you would see a cluster there, not a single infection or two. That way, you can rank social interactions in terms of likelihood of spread.

That is how the tracing was done at the university. There was probably a large cluster at the indoor party the student attended. But not in the classroom/student club. Ergo, the party takes blame.

That team was doing very well in regular season, had a lot of talent. It was chronically underachieving in playoffs. Closer to Tampa situation before they broke through. Like Sharks before they never did..

For us, thats not the case though, is it?

Right now, we are not close to the top end talent of the Caps.

So you're alluding to the case that management made a huge mistake and that Hextall was correct in remaining patient? Fletcher had 9 years in Minnesota to build something and move that franchise forward. What did he build there?
- MJL

What Fletcher built in Minnesota is what you see now for the most part. You have posted that Fletcher did a good job drafting, so if the decision of the org is to build again through drafting and developing players, Fletcher would be the good choice, right?

They added 5 fresh players last off season. What is the best way to add fresh players?
- MJL

There are 3 ways to add players as you know all too well, draft & development them, trade for them or sign them. I think the good teams have a balance of all 3 but the best draft and develop a majority and augment with smart trades and signings. Looking at Tampa as the benchmark, 9 of their current forwards were drafted, 2 were signed and 1 was picked up on waivers. But this does not currently include Kucherov and Point who were also both drafted. However on defense, 4 players were signed, only 2 were drafted (though one was Hedman) and 2 were signed. For goalies, 1 was drafted (Vasey), the other signed which is probably the most popular model. So here you see Tampa maybe focused on drafting and developing forwards well and augmented the roster with good trades and signings. This to me is how you do it.

That's not correct. Fletcher has been gone from Minnesota for 3 1/2 years. What Fletcher built there is what you saw from the 9 years he was there. No, Fletcher is not a good choice overall in my opinion. Fletcher should be replaced in my opinion.

The question I asked is what is the best way to add player. However let me rephrase it. What would be the best way for the Flyers to add players now with the situation the team is in?

Ha ha. Possibly because he wants to see you derail a dying thread by repeating objecting to its derailment.

Exectly. What good will a coach do? He can put on the lipstick on the pig, which could be called the pigstick. Do we want the pigstick?

I already posted multiple times how I would proceed if I were Fletcher, I would do a big reset by trading G, TK, Risto and my 1 year vets at the deadline to accrue assets for the upcoming draft and hope I can get into the top 10 or even the top 5 and draft and develop the next Giroux as well as restock the system with the right kind of talent for today's game, focusing on speed and high skill.
