Rome in this case will take a LOT more than a day to build
- Takemedrunkimhome

if they commit to a rebuilding process, it will take a few years anyway, they can't expect to turn this around in a year or two. Solid draft next year they say

Scott Wheeler @scottcwheeler

A year after Thomas Bordeleau was unable to play in the World Juniors because his roommate, John Beecher, was false positive and he wasn’t allowed to enter the bubble, he’ll miss a second tournament for being positive.

Absolutely heartbreaking.

It'll be a LONG stretch before there's even hope with this team

I don't expect much change before they hire the new GM. One thing that's disturbing though is that with the number of injuries you don't really see guys trying to get noticed. They all look sorry for themselves.

Well, aside from Romanov who is the lone bright spot right now.

Poehling doesn't look half bad either.

But yeah, not many young guys doing much to get noticed, Caufield included.

Sacrificing Poehling to not expose Evans.

Also, so Paquette and Perrault can play center, because that is somehow important at this point..

That is the kinda stuff we have to look forward to til the end of the season.

I said it the other day but Ducharme saying he isn't coaching to develop kids because he's been told to try and win wasn't the strong defense of his coaching methods he thinks it is

He is trying to win and has 6, and 15 out of 58 points. And not even a back-to-back win yet this year. And they may go 0 for December.

How much worse could not trying to win actually be?

I know you can't come out and say you're not trying to win...but come on.

Suzuki, Caufield, Poehling, Romanov should be getting force fed minutes and favorable zones/match ups. I'd hate to look at the math for the amount of wins they'd need this season to get back to 8th so they need to be honest with themselves about what constitutes a win for them this year.

No but you can come out and say (and actually do) that you want to see what the kids can do out there and focus on their development and by doing that, perhaps they end up winning more games as the year goes on and puts them in a better position next year.

Saying they are trying to win now, sheltering kids in favour of vets that should not be around now, let alone next year, makes them look like incompetent idiots.

I suspect DD knows he is out the door and trying to make himself look as good as possible for his next gig, but tbh, showing the ability to develop talent at the NHL is a nice skillset to have. Especially considering winning does not look like a strong part of his coaching abilities.

Ottawa's coach pretty much admitted they went into "development mode" recently.

Funny enough, they started winning more games when they made the switch.

I've given up on this team. Until they finish cleaning house, I just don't care anymore. People are either auditioning for their current jobs or their next ones, not doing what is best for the long-term viability of the organization.

Wake me up a week before the trade deadline, only if anything worth trading is not injured.

Otherwise, just gonna be the same poop here every week.

Gorton needs to get this poop moving.
