Love Ray and Simpson

I wish O'Dog would do colour

- Zezel

I could do without Simpson, O'Dog would be entertaining for colour but I'm not so sure I see him as a good 'call the play by play' guy.

He would proably be an excellent side kick a la Jim Ralph to Joe Bowen.

And it still bugs we they don't have Joe Bowan doing colour anymore.

Now you can fit another dog and a couple cats under the cap for the playoffs.
- Zezel

Could work. Operation won’t happen till end of January, recovery time …. Yeah, ready to go for playoffs.

Poor pup is on a major diet in addition to working in 3 legs right now. He still thinks he can go for full walk and gets very annoyed when I pull his fat ass back after 3 houses.

Poopload of tickets still left for tonight.

You can sit in the upper bowl for less than $100 per ticket.

No outrageous deals yet, but with the number of tix still out there, people will start to panic by 4 pm.

I was at the game Tues. There were a LOT of empty seats.

Agree on Simpson - have difficulty understanding why both he and his sister are employed by a company that owns the Leafs, when Simpson sent a letter to the Leafs not to draft him. I mean - really? (frank) him. When Vancouver fan Jim Hughson was doing Leaf brodcasts, I typically used the Bowen radio coverage. My son installed a program that helped but did not entirely correct the brodcast delay issues for better but not perfect sync

Joe Bowen and O'Dawg would be the best!!

Serious question though, can one of you guys living in Canada explain to me why Bowen isn't the Leafs National announcer? He's the best...fair commentary, not too homerish and so awesome when he's excited.

Being an ex TV executive, I have no idea why Sportsnet and TSN have the pooptiest on-air and in-game announcers.

Is there any story behind it? Does Canada just like the most white-bread, bland and unattractive personalities they can find?

He's entertaining and can speak to the game from a player perspective. Sure he's a bit of a goof ball but to me that's exactly why he's entertaining.

Sometimes I laugh with him, sometimes at him.

Probably more of the 2nd than the first but I'd still take him over Simpson or Hughson or some of the other talking heads.

Simpson sucks. He just never stops talking. Paralysis by analysis. It's too bad because I really like Cuthbert. Agree Ray is the best colour guy right now, but I miss the greatest duo of all time: Bob Cole and Harry Neale. Perfection.

Not for a whole game where he has to figure things out as they’re happening. He'd be a disaster. He’s just not smart enough.

Is your dog ok? Just switched vets for mine. Discovered a new vet scam with dogs. Plaque removal and teeth cleaning. I was given a $2000 (possibly more) estimate to have my dog's teeth cleaned. Went to a new vet, was quoted $350 - but because i have insurance will be only $100. Regular dentistry is already horribly overpriced, now they (frank) you with dog dentistry - or at least try to.

Bowen and Jim Ralph are amazing - I'd take that duo over a Bowen / O'dog pairing to be honest.

Bowen is fairly homerish actually - not in how he calls the game (say like a Jack Edwards in Boston) in that respect he's very fair but when the Leafs score or do something over the top he's next level with the "Holy Mackinaw" etc.

As a Leafs fan I love it, but as a fan of any other team it would be hated big time and places like the CBC have no interest in that.

For whatever reason TSN's and Sportsnet seem to be focused on trying to not tick off non-leaf fans with the broadcast crew for Leaf games - which to me makes zero sense.

CBC does the same but to a much much larger degree in my opinion while ensuring they maintain their image of being very in tune with what society wants right now (or as some call it "woke"). Hence the selections that seem to be made with respect to who no longer has a job on HNIC and who now does.

I would love to hear anyone who loves hockey and knows the game explain to me how the broadcast is better today than it was say a couple years ago (excluding the Don Cherry / coaches corner element).

Half the time now I can't even stand to watch the intermission except to see replays.

Quasi related note - the CBC missed an opportunity with not continuing Coach's Corner with a new host in my opinon. There always seems to be a coach or GM out of a job who would/could provide a pretty entertaining segment. Trots, Boudreau, Burkie all come to mind in recent times. When Trots and Burkie were on some broadcasts they were pure entertainment but imagine if they had their own segment?

Pure Gold Jerry, pure gold!

I mean Boudreau dropped an F bomb at the end of his very first presser as the new coach of the Canucks! lol Yes it was as he was getting up and clearly somewhat accidental but still it's hilarious. I mean he has proven he can filter himself if he really focuses.....lol

With the border collie, its never a leisurely pace. The arms also get a workout when other dogs approach or a kid on a bike or a kid with a basketball.

I really like the new HNIC panel. They're all good, and I'm in love with Jen Botterill.

It's pretty cool that the Nucks new coach is a massive Leaf fan.

He ruptured whatever the dog version of the ACL is called. When we had this done on earlier dog, it was $2,000. We have insurance this time.

Eww really? I hate the new panel and find them not so good but to each his or her own I suppose.

I do often like Hrudey's takes but that's very likely because he views things from a goalie perspective.

The Nucks coach being a huge Leaf fan is a gift that will keep on giving I'm sure!

My cat that lives with his mom now has cat AIDS so he can't be insured, and he's required dentistry. Our vet is good but it still adds up. They should throw in some nitrous for me.

He's an excellent analyst when he's in the mood.

Which I suppose is part of his charm; it's funny to see him on Overdrive when he has no interest whatsoever in chatting about stuff he doesn't care about.

But I don't think that schtick would go over well on a national hockey broadcast.
