Nothing quite says Philly like putting a statue of Sylvester Stallone in front of the most beautiful piece of classical architecture in all of North America. Stay classy, Philly! - iamscore2day
Your complaint is about our times not the city. I never go past there without some folks running up the stairs and doing the Rocky pose. As far as bringing people there, it's a roaring success.

some random additions off the top of my head, with the tourist perspective in mind.
1. Interior of Fisher Fine Arts Library is straight outa Harry Potter. Kids always gape
when they see it (free to visit, only need to see it from foyer, no need to enter, come after dark).
2. The very short (10n odd) movie by Spielberg screened inside that weird futuristic Dome in Comcast Center. Also free.
3. The mindblowing hot chocolate at old world Shane's. (Through the door in the picture is where you order, past the chocolate displays ). The parent establishment, Franklin Fountain, is pretty famous with long lines. But This hidden delight just a storefront away is less well known. Not free, but not expensive for what you get.
4. The Barnes Foundation, with its jam-packed collection of impressionist art, the largest in the world afaik. $25.
5. The free student recitals at Curtis , the most selective undergrad institution in North America. Off-the-charts quality of performance. Many students go on from there and become world famous. - PT21
Very interesting. Thanks. I could prob spend a month in Philly checking out all the nooks. Lots of character in what I call my US home. 😀

Adam Richman called roast pork from DeNicks in Reading Terminal the best sandwich in the country - DrMidnite
Its extremely good. Make sure to get the broccoli rabe version, not spinach or whatever else they offer, with provolone not american.

Bought out twice all you need to know...hasnt been able to play a lick of defense for years - hfc355
He needs to sit now, but the word from the street is that's its taboo to do this to a player on the cusp of setting a record. And supposedly it could wreck the locker room.
He is 19 games from the record. Phil Kessel is 20 games behind him. In all likelihood, if he were to become the new Ironman record holder, the chances are it is going to be very short lived.

He was absolutely trying...he tries it in practice all the time apparently. Milano even yelled "Michigan" which is what they are supposed to yell to get his attention to try it.
BUT...they have never got it to work in practice....after the game he admitted it's the first time its actually worked. - juiced
Yeah, found the interview.

Always a pleasure to unabashedly boost my beloved city
Another random mention: Zahav in Philly was recently voted best restaurant in USA (James Beard award). This is their signature dish , which at least 3 people I know have called the best dish they have ever had in their lives (pork shoulder with pomegranates, needs to be ordered ahead of time)
A historic cafe centuries old in Italy that was destroyed in an earthquake of 2006 or so was restored in Philadelphia (!) by shipping over part of the masonry. They have the best espresso you will find in North America. (Napoli roast)

You must be in the tourism industry. The story about the cafe is epic. Painstaking process!

I'll take a roast pork at John's any day over Pat's and Geno's. Those places are actually awful. Tourist destinations. - PLindbergh31
Yup…short cab from the stadiums…John’s is pretty good….although I like Pats as well…then again I guess I’m technically a tourist |

Just stopping by to complain about something other than the sad sack Flyers. This new TV package that the NHL signed off on is brutal. ESPN virtually puts on no games other than ESPN+ which they were already putting on before this contract. TNT is just as bad if not worse. They put on ONE game a week at 10PM on Wednesday nights east coast time. I mean, you have the AVS playing the Rags tonight and they put on Vegas/Dallas at 10PM our time. Good job Buttman!! Way to help hockey disappear from the airwaves loser! |

I honestly don't mind it as I have kids and paying 14 / mo for Disney plus, Hulu and Espn+ to get all my hockey when I was paying upwards of 150 for center ice alone didn't seem like a bad trade off. |

Fopa21 reminds me of "Chris", who use to post on here and other Flyers sites. Every post was about taking the C from Giroux and how much Giroux sucks. Chris would also call you names if you disagreed with him. Glad Chris is gone. - Thors-Hammer
You would have to admit Claude is not a good captain/ leader. He is one of the all time offense point producers especially on the PP but he has been a historical slow starter. He also doesn’t seem to lead with urgency ( 10 game loosing streak 10 game winning streak = no problem to Claude)
I’m not a Claude hater, I have 2 Giroiux jerseys but I do see his positive and negative parts of his game. |

Last time I checked, some people must have decided that the Rocky statue belonged there. My complaint is with those idiots and everyone who voted for them. As for the Rocky statue actually bringing people to the city remark, you give it a lot more credit than anyone I know. |

OK! It's official. The Jersey uniforms are the butt ugliest out there. Given that, it's a Flyers win 4-3 guaranteed. Stone cold lock for those of you that are gamblers. |
