I wouldn’t doubt there may have been clashes between the two. Jake seemed to be an outspoken type of guy. That said, having watched Jake for a decade, we know his presence on the roster would be no panacea for what they’re going through right now. Heck, they’ve gone through these same streaks with Jake here….six of one, half-a-dozen of another.

Totally agree with this assessment. People are reaching to think that Jake would change anything although I'll admit that I am becoming more annoyed with Atkinson game by game. Seems like he's fitting in really well at living the country club life.

Again an embarrassment. We can't fire the coach yet and the trade deadline is months away. This rates as one of the worst performances i have seen from a Flyers team, and that includes the drubbing they took at the hands of the Rangers last year. They are simply going through the motions. As painful as it is, this is the only way to start to build. But knowing how things go, they will probably go on a winning streak at some point and lose the chance at a decent draft pick. Look out Sens and Kraken, here comevtge Flyers to join you in the cellar.

I fortunately missed the game tonight from what I’m reading. Was it worse than the two ranger games from last year?? Really?

I go back and forth because we all saw Jake (and JVR) become more 200ft players year 1 under AV. It seemed all loved AV in 19-20. What changed? Yes theyve gone through those streaks with Jake but that was pre AV and pre Hart when those happened, i think? Idk. We struggle to get the puck in o zone and that wad a strength of Jake.

Exactly this. This is how i feel. I like the guy but he seems too content. But so does most our team. He’s certainly not as creative as Jake. The fact is: atkinson isnt an elite goal scorer. Jake is an elite playmaker

I understood and agreed with the reasoning behind the trade. The Flyers have had a lot of setup guys and not enough snipers. Mix in with Fletcher’s goal to bring about some different voices on that roster and it makes sense. He’s in a rut like everyone on that team right now, but he’s more than capable of snapping out of it. I still think it was the right move.

A good way to put tonight into perspective is the fact that the Devils have won 2 of their last 8 games. Yes, that's right. They were both against the Flyers and they were both 3 goal victories. This is beyond pathetic.

Cant help but think of that rumor:

Seattle takes tarasenko and we trade jake for him. Some Philly beats have said Fletcher has still been on tarasenko. But i think that was plan A. And Atkinson just happened

Yeah, who knows what may have been discussed. Of course, who knows how it’ll turn out for Tarasenko, considering his injury history. It’s definitely a risk with him.

Its just flat out dumb to think Giroux wont fetch a solid return. Top faceoff man, wouldn’t be “the guy” wherever he goes, still produces at 1st/2nd line guy, And his cap isnt high at all if we retain 50%.

They clearly traded down in talent AND took on an extra year of contract. So incredibly dumb.

Fanbase got their pound of flesh tho. And after G leaves they'll get another. Just hope they enjoy watching whatever stiff Chuck brings in to replace him.

The Flyers would have no problem trading Provorov and Konecny.
- MJL

Then trade TK asap, he mailed it in last year, and doing the same this year. G should rip him a new one for the effort he has putting in.

I tell you. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect the team be this terrible. Even with injuries I expected they could hold their own with effort. Looks like they’ve given up on another coach here. I don’t even know what the answer is, but once they play the next two games and lose with similar effort then they’ll go down as the worst teams in flyers history when it comes to consecutive losses. With todays parity that’s unacceptable. I mean even the expansion teams weren’t this bad.

Someone said the other day being a Flyer fan is like getting a blowjob from a shark.

I'm still laughing at that.

To me obviously its on the players, you are on a 9 game losing streak and playing a division team and come out playing like that....seriously. Never been a G hater, but he is starting to turn me into one. People go on and on about his points and leading by example. Well sometimes leading by example doesn't work and a leader needs to find different ways for different people. I couldn't care less if they traded everyone from this roster. Too bad our AHL is awful too and our cupboards are bare, no savior coming up the ranks. We have more talent than the devils, but if you don't come to play, you aren't going to win....
When was the last time anyone saw 40 minutes of good effort from this team.

Would also love someone to explain to me the constant slow starts that have been happening for a decade now. Whats the explanation

No, it doesn't make sense if you don't replace the transition play. The Flyers struggle on moving the puck and attacking the opposition. That's what results in so many turnovers and the lack of offense. Voracek alone wouldn't solve it but it made a problem worse. The GM badly miscalculated on that move as well as others.

Watching the game last night, my biggest impression was just how much this group of players lack chemistry. You watch other teams, even the Devils, and there is so much more chemistry between the players on the ice, players know where each other are going to be and therefore they can play fast, passing and moving to areas of the ice without thinking. With the Flyers, EVERYTHING is a chore that seems hard to do, for example zone exits and entries. What makes matters worse is the lack of communication between the players. One example last night was the NJ PP goal that made it 2-0. You had Mercer standing all alone in front of Hart, and both Sanheim and Risto were above him on either side, yet neither one engaged Merger to get him out of the way of Hart. THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE! Again, my beer league does better than this. And its so easy to correct, Risto and Sanheim just have to communicate with each other and one takes the player, but instead they both stood there and puck watched! The kicker however for me was the goal by Zacha to make it 3-0 that was ultimately called bac because of an off sides review. But did you see Zachas smirk after he scored, it was almost a smirk like, geez I can't believe this team is this bad with the puck. I just wanted to smash a hockey stick through the window after that play. The only good news from last night is this team took a closer step to blowing it up and getting a top 5 draft pick!

I understand what you're seeing but it's not chemistry. It's coaching.
