not anytime soon, Hartford hasn't played since November 27th because of Covid cancellations, looks like they finally play again friday

Good call. Have to think the call up could likely have happened by now if not for the game freeze.

I think the 40 game mark in the AHL is a good time to think about Schneider and/or Zac Jones

that's what McDonagh did

they are both playing tons which is the best case

I dont think they pull Nemeth out of the lineup because of how much they use him on the PK. However having Schneider out there with Nemeth will definitely make that pairing a bit less of a target by other teams.

I think the bigger question is whether or not they'll acquire a vet because Tinordi is Hamrlik level of awful

Is it worth it for us to package Nemeth and a 2nd (more likely a 1st) for Chiarot to get a better LD and remove Nemeth's contract. Kill 2 birds.

I don't think they are gonna do that, Nemeth's icetime doesn't indicate to me at all that they are unhappy with him

I think they'd rather another vet in here to give Lundkvist a game off here and there other than Tinordi though

Brendan Smith.

Stralman and Schenn look like our veteran RD options.

Just trying to find a trade package to send Kreider away since hes messing up Zibanejad's game.

Jujhar Khaira was released from the hospital this morning.

From the Blackhawks: "Despite the significant injury, his prognosis is excellent, and we expect a full recovery. At this point, it is too early to put a timeline on return to play.”

Tonight is definitely a tough one. Back home after a time zone change in a b2b vs the Avs is only something the islanders should have to deal with haha

I think he would be an upgrade over Nils right now. I think Nils could use some time in Hartford to work on his game.

Despite having the lead last night, Nils did not see much ice time in the 3rd period. In fact, both Nils and LaFranchise saw very little ice late in the game. Coaches decision I guess, but it bears watching...

Man, that was like a dead body flop.
- JRR1285

Kinda funny you say that. I was at the game and, despite the background noise, that place got quiet, fast. Then some very intelligent person had the great idea to scream out, "WHAT, IS HE DEAD OR SOMETHING!?" to question everyone's silence. Keep in mind, a dude just got drilled in the head at 40 miles and hour by a 200 pound weight and hadn't moved at all. Even before that was yelled out, the thought did cross my mind for a few moments.

I have a general question for you guys.

Lafraniere was touted by some as a "generational talent" when he was drafted. To me, that means he should be on a McDavid/Crosby/Ovechkin level. To me, I always saw him as a "superstar" more on the tier of Lecavalier/Stamkos/P. Kane. But it seems like he's having some struggles at the pro level. What is the general feeling on how he's progressing and what do you guys think his ceiling is?

my feeling is that he is a left wing who doesn't feel comfortable playing right wing

and ahead of him in Panarin and Kreider we have two of the best left wings in the NHL

its gonna take an injury to one of them for him to move up into the top two lines, but I see enough talent that if that were to happen, he'd produce

I think he's more like a N Patrick kinda guy. Kidding, low blow
I'm hoping he's just following the Kakko path and will break out by the end of the season or beginning of next. The general feeling I'd say is he's not progressing like we'd hoped but he's also not playing top 6 minutes with top 6 players

I think theres potential for him to round out into a Landeskog type player. However I think the immediate thrust into the NHL during the COVID season was an unnecessary mistake. I think he should have played that year in the AHL and crushed it. So now he had to learn and adjust to play at an NHL level on the fly. The biggest knock on LAF is his skating/speed, which at this level can easily be exploited.

I think the other issue is having and developing a chemistry with linemates. I dont think theyve figured out the right combination of players for him to play with where theres a nice synergy. Gauthier seems to have really taken steps forward with LAF and they definitely have a nice thing going, however Chytil is the odd man out there and without a pivot that works it kinda messes the rest of things up.
