One good note...Goodrow won 15 FOđź‘Ť

The outcome of this game was inevitable. Forget and move on. The telling thing will be how they respond the next game with a couple days rest.

Thoroughly outplayed all over the ice, Colorado has been scoring like this against several teams this season, still difficult to watch them destroy us. Still a loss is a loss whether its by one goal or four.

Without a healthy Igor, really need Georgi to step up on Friday and right this ship...

Given their subpar overall play this loss, including failure to finish more offensively off good scoring chances despite a 2-1 lead after one, the Rangers would have still lost this matchup against the #1 Western Conf. Cup contender Avs had Georgiev instead made his second start within 22.5 hours.

However, the Adam Huska experiment in net is over after he yielded some bad goals, and in looking shaky at best, could have in part contributed to them lacking confidence in playing their worst game since that 6-0 whitewash at Calgary. That loss to the Flames in turn resulted in the Rangers overall season turnaround in winning 11 of their next 12, including the previous 7 straight. So they were likely due in this second game on back to back nights to have an off game against the high offensive powered Avs.

But there's a reason why prospect Adam Huska is not ranked as high as prospect Tyler Wall, & isn't their #1 starter down in Hartford. We had a glimpse why during the NHL preseason per Huska's two shaky appearances made against the Isles & Devils when yielding 4 goals on just 22 SOG (.818 SV%) in 55:55 of combined ice time in those 2 losses. In contrast, a poised Tyler Wall played well here during the preseason in exhibiting confidence, plus great mobility & net coverage, and is much closer to being NHL ready than Huska.

Given Shesty's past injury type history with exception for being sidelined by his auto accident, & should the Rangers feel that Kinkaid is not the vet who can fill in sufficiently if needed extendedly, Georgiev must see more action to hold Shesty to just 60 to 65 starts, & keep him fresher for the postseason. Should they lack confidence in Georgiev making +/-20 overall starts, then in addition to faceoff help needed, Drury must also acquire soon a reliable lower cost veteran backup goalie.

Jan said it best in his blog's second paragraph of Section (2) - "Defense," in needing in short, "without focusing on the negatives, to highlight what's needed by the Rangers to still improve, despite the winning streak being great" (prior to the loss to the Avs).

That heading into the game at 17-4-3 with the highest .771% of points earned in the league, is once again the seemingly everlasting need to acquire top faceoff help. They were on the short side in winning only 30 of 68 faceoffs the prior night at Chicago despite a 6-2 win, where 2 lost faceoffs led to the 2 Hawks goals. This loss featured a blip in the radar in having won 51% of the faceoffs to the Avs 49%.

The need for Drury to address this matter is crucial since the Rangers have already played 12 ONE GOAL games going 8-1-3 for 19 points earned of 24 in them (for an even higher .792 PTS%). However, they have also scored one late game empty netter each in 3 of their games won by 2 goals, making those 3 games in effect as if also being ONE GOAL margin victories for an adjusted then 11-1-3 record (& .833 PTS%) in one goal games.

With some NHL experts now mentioning them as being Cup contender worthy, these one goal regular season wins will become harder to earn come playoff time against upper ranked teams, should they continue losing faceoffs at deficits per game of roughly (+/-)60% to (+/-)40%.

I certainly hope so, but also believe that to be the case here, especially with that awful 2nd period alone.

Yeah, but how about also the goaltending situation exclusive of Shesty when he returns, as per preserving him for hopefully a possible postseason run of some length, by having a reliable backup limiting him initially to about 60 to 65 regular season starts?

If they lack confidence in Georgiev & want to deal him with his expiring contract in some package for a need, they surely didn't help his trade return value recover any further by not starting him on the second of back to back nights, after he played well enough in the past 7 periods of the prior 3 games.

1- cut them slack- the Avs were rested and the Rangers didnt get to NY until after 2am
2- They played poorly. First game I ever saw Fox being noticeably bad. All of our best players were bad. I think its related to point one: fatigue. We are not a slow team.
3- We started an AHL quality goalie
4-Zib like many other superstar athletes is feeling the weight of his contract. Its temporary- talent will prevail
5- this team, has moxy- they will respond

I think Gallant has the pulse of this team. He also saw Georgie play 2+ games of solid hockey and spared him against an offensive juggernaut. If Rooney and Chytil score on their chances I think this game ends up much different (particularly the Rooney chance)

The Rangers knew they were gonna have to keep pace with the Avs and they didn't but If they did Georgie still would of had a 5 spot dropped on him.

Nothing that hadnt been talked about after the Hawks game. If youre looking for answers youre in the wrong place. You can dig it up from the previous blog, I said we had to start Georgiev in this game, for him and for us. Rangers need to cut bait and get a new backup, enough is enough with this drama.
