We heard the same thing during the “smiling during face wash” controversy. The fact is that Matthews isn’t the kind of player that is going “fight” or “push” or “goon” back in these situations. The Leafs should probably trade him.

Jeremy Jacobs the chairman of the NHL Executive Committee acquired the Bruins in 1975. He's literally Gary's boss. I believe the system is unfair and unjust - and it most definitely is not a democracy. We'll see on Trouba, I believe the suspension will be a short one.

Matthews didn't engage a player that would be a third line centre on the Leafs that whose focus was to get Matthews off the ice. Dubois succeeded only because the ref who was standing right there was incompetent, corrupt or both.

So if Spezza had bitten Pionk on the knee would he have been suspended for less than 6 games?

Interesting that there's gross plays left right and centre this week. It's as if DOPS isn't doing their (frank)ing job and players are thinking they can push the limits and it's a dice roll. 🤔

Slewfoot is one of the most overlooked calls in the NHL and has been for some time. Refs hesitant to call because its an automatic ejection and also because of incompetence or corruption IMO.

Seeing the Jets celebrate after the Leafs game like they had just won the Cup was hilarious (and pathetic) to watch. I'm hoping the Leafs play the tape back before their March rematch and just absolutely steamroll them (on the board, not the box).

Of course, we all know our stars are just going to turtle and get ragdolled but one can dream...

We do know that Leaf fans and Leaf performances are the only people and team that Bettman has mocked outwardly in any of his speeches. I don't know how he really feels, but I do know that showing outward disdain, even in jest, isn't usually the behaviour of people who don't care.

Leaf fans are numerous and there are a number of annoying ones. This a fanbase that glorifies "dart man", or gave an imbecile who ate cat poop a radio show. There are obvious reasons to question the Leaf faithful.

All that said, all I can say is that the specifics of this incident show that there are other retaliatory hits, other head shots, other hits to players in vulnerable positions - all of which have been met with 2 regular season games or less. Marchand received 3 and I question whether he should have. It seems excessive for the play, but he's a rat with a history, so it's elevated.

I also feel that Spezza's 6 games is 4 + 2 for the crest on his chest.

I thought it was going to be 4 in all honesty. I think the extra 2 came from pionk being in concussion protocol, which Winnipeg just happened to release 30 mins before the hearing.

Not agreeing or even disagreeing (dont care either way). Just pointed out they wont get called as per the rules of the book. Never has, probably never will...so learn to fight through them (again, as the original poster pointed out, doesnt mean to fist fight)

If not, oh well, accept what happens.

Not so sure of that. Campbell will be in net if he's not injured and Keefe gets last line change. I'm going and hope to sit close to Gary and Parros. I will be on my best behaviour and promise not to taunt Maurice and the Jets.
