Man Bunting, Kase and Kampf were some really good bargain bin finds by the Leafs. If Ritchie Rich gets some mojo going after breaking the seal tonight that'd be even better. Looks like Matthews and company could drag the team through this injury spell.

Campbell with a couple sick saves ce soir.

He had a horse collar on Matthews. I'd love to see anyone keep their feet while that's happening. Spoiler alert, it ain't happening.

Guys, I'm speaking in general. Not saying he should of MMA'd the (frank) out of PLD last night.

TO BE CLEAR, I AM SAYING MATTHEWS MIGHT NEED TO TOUGHEN UP AND PUSH BACK ONCE AND A WHILE SO HE DOESN'T GET RAG DOLLED AGAIN. NOT FIGHT

I'm not discussing this ever again. Jesus christ you think some of you guys never grew up playing hockey. Any time some one tried to push you around/bully you it was your job to push back....that doesn't always mean fight just means make the other player's life a little pooptier too so they think twice and leave you the (frank) alone. That's all.

To get involved in a different subject , I totally agree.

They are looking great.

Steeves and Rubins looked comfortable tonight too. Someone should whisper to Rubins, practice a big clapper from the point and sneaky net front cross checks and we might see him sooner than later.

And I'm saying that not only should Matthews not have to do that poop, he literally couldn't. Dubois horse collared him.

Jason Spezza and the Leafs made 3 arguments in suspension case:

1. It was not kneeing; NHL Player Safety disagreed.

2. Neal Pionk was eligible to be checked; NHL Player Safety agreed.

3. Spezza would have checked Pionk legally had he not fallen; NHL Player Safety disagreed.

Matthews getting ‘rag dolled’ or pushed around has only been noticeable a couple times and there was the appropriate response by the appropriate players.
Matthews has definitely leaned in on guys hard and finished through on hits a number of times after some ‘run-ins’.
No matter what Matthews response is - he wont gain anymore space out there. Teams will always key in and do their best to take away his time and space and try to rattle him a bit. That’s why it is important to employ a couple guys (Simmonds, Clifford, even Ritchie) that can step in there and do their best to limit this.
Matthews typically does at least slash, push, cross check back. That’s all you want him to do. His quick hands, anticipation, strength on and with the puck and overall skill set make other players lives a bit crappier. No need to start getting taken off ice for 2mins, 4mins, etc.

God.

I disagree with 1 but I can at least see how someone else might see it another way.

How in the (frank) do you come to that conclusion on the 2nd and 3rd points. 🤦🏻‍♂️

He can push back on his terms, not theirs, whether it’s fighting or not. He’s going to win 70% of the puck battles with those guys. I couldn’t care less about scrums after the whistle or some guy trying to dry hump him.

Also, I got the last word in so technically, I win.

Absolutely. It's almost like they wanted the Leafs to appeal it when they're that (frank)ing stupid.

How on earth can the leafs argue it wasn’t kneeing? Play clearly shows knee to head.

I see ass hip make contact with the sternum area before a knee collides with anything. To me, and I full on don't even know if this is a legitimate thing or total dog poop... It's the same as hitting someone in the shoulder and making incidental head contact. It's the same thing as a high stick not counting if its a shot follow through. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Let's see how the DoPS feels about Trouba's hit on Khaira tonight.

Initial contact being on his shoulder/arm and the knee was after, is my guess.

Especially since DO"PS" seem to care a lot about initial contact, when they talk about what is and isn't legal.

That hit was nothing but head. No penalty on that play either.

He had his head down while Trouba was coming in and Trouba clearly saw it. Could have pulled up before running through him.

Hope he's alright!

Infinitely worse than what Spezza just got 6 games for and it's really not up for debate.

Lets see how the DO"PS" fumbles this one.

Which is why logic dictates that the Leafs will win their appeal.

Unfortunately, the NHL is where logic goes to die.

Won't make a difference, not retaliatory, so one or two games max IMO
