I'm noticing Marino being groomed to replace Dumoulin rather than Letang. Marino is still expected to provide offence. It's just more of a two way, defense first position. If that makes sense on a team that wants to attack at all costs. - Thunderbolt
Without making other additions, I'd transition to Pettersson-Marino taking the tough matchups. Letang if he stays is part of an offense-first second pairing and still runs the PP. Sort of similar to Geno's role at forward. |

That's a hell of deal the NHL made with ESPN. Most people in Pittsburgh won't be seeing Friday's game. I have the sports package with VZ and Center Ice and won't see the f'n game. A$Sholes. - madmike71
I'm not pleased. I finally go back to cable and there are less games on during the week then were with NBC. And now we lose games against the Caps, Flyers, Rangers, and Oilers. I'll find a stream but still, wasn't an issue before. |

After mtl’s year so far highly doubt anyone will want to sign there next year. Unless they just want a big pay cheque with a long summer. - 10inchTerror
Don't doubt the allure of playing in Montreal... especially for someone from Quebec.
Montreal having a really bad year but consider Weber is now toast, Price has not played and they also lost Danault. They have a lot of good (not great) pieces there but a change in mix and a big free agent signing or two (like Letang would be) and they might not be that far off. |

Would you entertain a Petterson and Kapanen trade for Tarasenko? That's what Blues fans are saying would get it done on CF. - j.boyd919
While I am ok with that deal at face value, I'd love to see how much we would need to add to sub Matheson in for Pettersson.
Pettersson can be replaced, there are a lot of LD out there in the rental market. Chiarot, Giordano, Lindholm, would all be fine replacements. Edmondson in Montreal has a good bit of term left on a nice contract, he would be a nice pickup when healthy.
I would also probably prefer to have Rust in the deal over Kapanen. We won't be re-signing Rust, I'd rather hang onto Kap's rights if possible. |

Brutal. I wonder if it's the hand? He got hit in the 1st but finished the game. Seems like the standard Pens injury workflow |

Zuck will rip it up w/ sid, then Jake will come back and resume his rampage w/ geno. It’s all coming together!
Sully would still put zuck w/ geno for some reason. |

They called it upper body so I'm guessing it's the hand. |

I saw an interview recently where Letang said he would like to stay in Pittsburgh but also said he would be really excited if he had an opportunity to play in Montreal. Letang definitely isnt taking a discount from where he is currently at. Question is what will his term be and whether he is looking to try something else. - MacPatty
maybe something else is moving him to wing too? 58 - 87 - 71 would cause quite the erection in some penguins fans from 2015. me as well.

Lol remember in the Letang vs Niskanen debate there was a camp that was like “yeah we can’t pay them both on the blue line, but if Letang moves to wing then it’s totally fine!”
Man what a wild debate that was in hindsight. Letang ended up being a bargain contract but Niskanen also ended up good. Man if the debate had instead been about moving on from Orpik to make space for Niskanen, our blue line would have been in really good shape! |

Man that Trouba hit on Khaira was bad. Like worse than Wilson bad. Like even I’m like that’s a bad hit. Can’t believe no one on Chicago really went after Trouba, this sport is going down hill.
Edit. Scrolled down YouTube and some guy did challenge him, the one linesman was trying to jump right in, the other linesman(I’m guessing the senior linesman) actually pulled the other linesman off to let them go. Never saw that before. Maybe hockey will remain apart from the other lane ass sports that this country finds amusing. - Grinder47

I'm actually pretty shocked that you think it was a bad hit.
Trouba kept his arm down, didn't leave his feet, and it didn't seem like he was head hunting.
Looked clean to me.
Khaira should have kept his head up. |

Lol, I commend you finding a silver lining when losing one of our best players. I would like to see if Zucker does better with Sid. Then again it's not like Zucker isn't getting chances, just can't score. |

Yeah I didn’t watch the game, but when I saw Grinder say even he thought it was bad I had to go see the replay and man, it really just looked like an open ice hit. Not sure about “he should have kept his head up”. He was just corralling the puck. I think the timing was just unfortunate.
“Keep your head up” is over used. Sometimes you have to be looking down to execute something. No one retrieves the puck on blind faith. |

I believe a lot of people thought Niskanen was a product of Maatta at the time. And it did seem risky since he broke out in a contract year. But agree in hindsight that's a big what if because Niskanen had a nice career and would have formed a nice 1-2 punch with Letang. |

Maybe not, Zucker also missed practice with a maintenance day. They just flipped ERod to LW so that's an option, though I'd be surprised if Sid like playing with Kapanen.
Pens workflow without Guentzel and Zucker:
Rodrigues-Crosby-Kapanen
O'Connor-Carter-Heinen
Aston-Reese--Blueger-McGinn
Simon-Boyle-Lafferty
Also of note because of the WBS Covid outbreak, they want to avoid bringing anyone else up (not that there are a bunch of deserving candidates). |

I wouldn't go that far, it was still a shoulder to the head. But it's not as bad as Grinder was making it out to be haha |

I feel like "keep your head up" is more like, your head should be on a swivel knowing who/what is around you, like he could have looked up or ahead to see Trouba stepping in at the blue line. |

His shoulder hit his head only because his head was down. Trouba didn't leave his feet, didn't target the head, Khaira had the puck and Trouba clearly, at least IMO, targeted his chest.
