You really think the Flyers winning would cause a significant uptick in cable/satellite subscriptions? I can't really see that. Everybody who even has a passing interest in live sports is likely already accounted for.

I think it would be one part of how revenue would increase if a team reached championship level.

I never said anything about all markets being equal. Indeed, that is why I mentioned big market teams for NHL. Dynamics are completely different in small market teams, like essentially all teams south of Mason-Dixie: there, winning implies much greater % changes in attendance/viewership, and base (bubble team attendance levels) are much lower. Hence, mgmt has a much greater incentive to field winning teams as there is much greater space to move up.

I don't understand why WFT is a bad example. It is a poster child for my point. It has beaten trend for rise in value while underperforming trend for wins.

It’s a bad example because one has nothing to do with the other. You are equating something that I don’t think is relevant…at all.

Not just that, but based on evidence from Boston/CHI and the past 2 years here, rebuilding will likely cause a significant downtick.

Call it the point-elasticity of demand. Pretty inelastic if team gets at least 80+ points a season. Very elastic before that threshhold.

Just a quick question…how did you come up with your point-elasticity? Why the 80 point threshold? Did you use the Flyers best seasons against its worst?

Better yet …never mind.

Question or not?

Honestly, I felt that MJL had hijacked your account for the last few posts.

Btw, did you follow through with your long delayed vacaion/travel plans now that your family is vaccinated? Or did delta/omicron stall them?

Still stalled for the family…but I’m headed south just after new years to get some golfing in.

That's true for most teams, but not one that's already commanding a championship level premium on most everything already.

Can’t …I don’t qualify for 6 months after my last one…have to wait till I get back….it’s close but they won’t give a booster here until you’ve gone 6 full months since the 2nd shot.

By south of border, do you mean the US? You can just walk in to many places here, and just get the jab. Though of course, it will be of little use for a few days after, and may affect your golf swing.

I’ll need the govt document for the future…so I need to get it here. You still need proof of double vax to go into any restaurant or arena/public building. Soon I’m sure they’ll want to see the same for booster. Yes south to me is South Florida.

I have a friend who has similar constraints. He is French. He got the booster here and is now reconciling it with his earlier government records in France.

I am sure there must be a way. I mean, what if your life forced you to be here during the time you were eligible in Canada? All this if you do want to go through all that...

That's not true. Can't command a championship level premium on tickets for playoff games if you're not making the playoffs.

Don’t think I can even watch tonight. Guaranteed loss and setting a record as we move to 20 game losing streak.
