You should talk out of both sides of your mouth again today
Winning it all is all that matters, but talk about the Leafs and Panthers as the pantheons of success today.
Then tomorrow you can talk about how you don’t really need the elite QB’s in the NFL to win - sbroads24
Yea but if it takes 8 years to win a SB with Allen then was it worth it ?
Sbroads logic.
Everyone on here contradicts themselves every day. Look in the mirror.
Same guy who says you need an elite QB to win, says tanking for a McDavid/Mackinnon/Eichel is malpractice

We’re picking high either way dude. I’ve said this multiple times
You don’t need to do it purposely anymore
That’s my point.
The Bills won a few games and ended the drought while they stripped it down for Allen.
You don’t know your own history |

The Bills are the exact opposite of tanking
Stripped the roster down, made moves that won games now but acquired assets
Made the postseason, still acquired Allen, built from there
Thanks for making my point that it’s possible
Good talk. |

Adams talked all offseason about culture and bringing in people that want to be here, but we suck.
Why ? Lack of talent.
If you want to believe all of that other fluff then by all means.
Hornqvist, Verhagee, Reinhart are all great hockey players.
Weegar, Ekblad, huberdeau should all make team Canada.
Barkov is a top 10 player in the league. That’s why you’re good. - Pegullaville
You seemed to have missed the whole point.... the talented Panthers were still spinning their wheels. Yes Zito brought in some very good players, and everyone of them fit the culture (100% effort always). One would be rather clueless to write it all off as “fluff”. |

You also can’t trade up in the draft for a McDavid.
In football you see teams trade up every year.
Huge freaking difference |

You’re right - the Broncos tanked for Peyton Manning because picking #1 is the only way to get a 1C
God you’re too easy to do this with |

Broncos would have 0 SB’s in that stretch.
Thanks to tanking.

Dude, you should really stop relying on numbers so much, especially with goalies. Bob’s numbers last year were “helped” by him too often being hung out to dry by the guys playing in front of him. He’s been better this year, but so has the defensive effort in front of him. No one is saying it doesn’t take talent, just that it takes more than raw talent.
Go ahead, though, and arrogantly try to tell someone who watches damn near every Panthers game how it really is.... |

Whether it’s season 1 or season 9 you won’t win the cup without them.
But cry about it. - Pegullaville
The interesting thing I see here is that finally, finally the Sabres cupboard of prospects is pretty decent in numbers and are each having very good success across the various leagues they play in. That bodes very well for the short and longer term if they don't go Full GMTM and trade it all away.
Furthermore, they probably have say 5 youngins on the current roster playing decently.
Now, they can capture a high draft pick in a loaded draft so they don't need to finish with the 1-OA to be able to select a stud prospect.
Therefore, they will be miles and miles ahead of the rushed rebuild attempted if they just maintain proper course.
Screw all this BS about culture of losing impacting 16 guys who won't be here next year. Nust manage the 7 who will.
Hence why I would be having serious talks with Mitts and Dahlin to play with alot more jump in their game...with and without the puck. |

This was the list of assets we had prior to drafting Reinhart and Eichel.

Funny and a bunch of them are still plugging away. Would have taken a bunch of them over some of the players brought in to fill holes because we didn't have some of these guys. Plus all the picks used on those players filling those holes. |

Other than ROR, who was the last team to win a cup without their top line Center acquired via the draft ?
How do you increase your odds of finding an elite Center in the draft ?
By tanking.
All thanks to grade 8 statistics class, life is as simple as you make it - Pegullaville
ooooh...this is fun...if tanking is to assure one's team of a top pick, or even second overall (like what happened with the sabres) here's your top two picks this century up until the matthews draft with the bolded as cup-winners:
2000 g rick dipietro lw, dany heatley
2001 lw ilya kovalchuk c jason spezza
2002 lw rick nash g kari lehtonen
2003 g maf c eric staal
2004 lw ovi c malkin
2005 c sid rw bobby ryan
2006 d eric johnson c jordan staal
2007 rw patty kane lw james van reimsdyke
2008 c stammer d doughty
2009 c tavares d hedman
2010 lw hall c seguin
2011 c rnh lw landeskog
2012 rw nail d ryan murray
2013 c mackinnon c barkov
2014 d ekblad c skunk
2015 c mcjesus c jack echl
2016 c matthews rw laine
11 of 34 have won the cup, six were centers...
no one is denying elite centers are almost always key components in a cup-run, how you attain one is another story |

nobody cares about the scrubs...but when losing starts affecting two top-10 picks (one of them 1st overall) in their early 20's, especially in light of two players entering their prime who were so sick of the losing that they got themselves a plane ticket out (not wanting to be in buffalo,) that's a bad trend
