Right, and moving picks and prospects for Ryan O’Reilly the same day you draft Jack Eichel is not a “tank move”.

The Beady eyed douche planned on winning starting in 2016. I’m sure he didn’t plan on losing in 2017 either.

He built a crappy roster with a crappy head coach.

- Pegullaville

It was a stupid trade at the time, the Sabres were not ready for that.

Not too long ago the love for Donnie was unreal and now it’s fading fast. He’s no miracle worker and asking him to make chicken soup out of chicken sh!t just won’t happen. Bringing in a so called saviour goalie isn’t the answer at this point. Ride it out, stay the course and enjoy the ride.
- Camel

I still have faith in Donnie, players have to take responsibility for some of this to.

(frank) the sabres...

Out of all of the backreading I did today, of all the posts, this is the best and most accurate one.

Wake me up when all the promising prospects are finally here. This current squad is unwatchable, and doesn't deserve all the attention we're giving them in here.

Instead of bringing in a goalie why wouldn’t KA bring in Hasek as a goalie coach or goalie coach advisor.

Florida and Toronto managed to make the playoffs after years of disarray.

Toronto purposely lost for Nylander, Marner, Matthews.

Florida sucked enough for Ekblad, Barkov, Huberdeau.

Shanahan/Lou/Dubas, Tallon/Zito, Murray/Botts/Adams. One of these things are not like the other, I’ll let you guess why we still suck.

not meant to be a dig

why would you bring hasek in to be a goalie coach on goalies that are not gonna be on your roster in 12 months

I can see it when 6k, levi and portillo move up the ranks

Exactly but bringing him in now even as an advisor would make a difference. Teams need to know from someone like him the importance of the crest on the front of the sweater.

The d group definitely miss Dan Girardi behind the bench.

The locker room is starting to show cracks, 11 years straight someone says they have to look into the mirror.

Goalies, d corp, forwards, it’s a ripple effect. Players tighten up and begin to question the process when they lose, especially in the fashion that has begun 2/3weeks ago.

This question has been asked by many on here and no one has provided proactive options to handle it. The Pegulas and every management team they’ve hired so far have failed at this point, I see no changes in approach at this point so I am fully prepared to lose Dahlin by next trade deadline.

I’m tired of this tank crap.

Eichel and Reinhart will be playing in the top 6 of two Stanley Cup contenders this year.

Yet we hired three stooge GM’s who hired a bunch of stooge coaches that couldn’t even get to the playoffs (through no fault of Eichel and Reinhart) yet it’s because we lost in 2015.

Yet Colorado, Toronto, Florida, Winnipeg, Edmonton are all going to be playing in April this year doing the exact same franking thing we did.

Culture this, culture that.

in the 10 years leading up to the cats first of two consecutive playoff appearances, they compiled a 344-328-114 record...they lost 442 out of 786 games or 56%...they made the playoffs twice...

in the 10 years leading up to the stealth tank of matthews, toronto lost 440 out of a possible 786 games, or 56%...they made the playoffs once

the buffalo sabres have not made the playoffs in 10 seasons and since they decided to tank beginning with 2013-14 they've lost 65% of their games...the jack eichel era produced 282 losses in 453 games, a 62% loss percentage...the rasmus dahlin era produced 145 losses (117+28) in 231 games or 63%...

they're doing exactly what was expected...beating/competing against teams on par with them, losing to those who are better, getting caved in by teams that are far superior...with a stolen game (or two) thrown in for good measure

All those games lost through no fault of Eichel or Reinhart.

Yet Eichel and Reinhart are going to play huge roles in April this year.

But continue to put the cart before the horse.

Hire a good management team and a good head coach, and Eichel, Reinahrt, ROR are all still here and we have a good team

I think for next season you try to get 3 pieces, goalie, rd and top 6 player

bring the kids up

put the chips on the table and see what you have

- homiedclown

Agreed.
I can't reconcile the tank '22-'23 season as Gerbe stated and referenced by Patch with the need to at least get to the Cap and bring up a wave of youngins ...just does compute to me.

There will be growing pains with the kids, so maybe it is recognition of such, rather than "the plan" to "tank".

Btw, only having Asplund, Bryson, Cozens, Dahlin , Mitts, Tage to evaluate for next season, I would hope they can properly identify which of those is worth effort to keep developing and move those who they have a question about.
