when you trade eichel, reinhart, risto for futures and Hagg

your goalie walks and you replace them with anderson, dell and subban

your biggest additions are pysyk, vinny and hayden

you are suppose to lose

imagine how bad this team would be if skinner was still in a funk and the tage/asplund combo were busts

- homiedclown

i think most get this...my biggest problem is that gerbes is talkin about another tank year after this one...

that's soooooo...loserville

There's talent on this team, not enough. But getting outworked and quitting on plays is not talent, it's Heart or lack of it. When a mistake happens the Sabres just multiply it. And they still haven't figured out how to stop that.
- Buff36

The way to stop it is
A) coach the F out of them
B) rid the player if the effort doesn't improve

It is simply unacceptable.

This is bullcrap.

Casey can help change that culture by (frank)ing hustling back. Instead, he gives Subban a big ol' "Buffalo welcome" by hanging him out to dry.

The players on the ice are just as culpable for this "culture". How about you show up to play on every shift, like they were in the first dozen or more games?

- Powerslave

This is absolutely correct.

I think for next season you try to get 3 pieces, goalie, rd and top 6 player

bring the kids up

put the chips on the table and see what you have

Yes it is, but you can't coach heart. And rid the player is a little hard when some of the effort is from players you are hoping to build around.

the object of playing the game is to win...anyone who's ever played organized sports plays to win...losing grates on anyone who has an whisper of integrity and athletic passion

- Michael Pachla

Right, and moving picks and prospects for Ryan O’Reilly the same day you draft Jack Eichel is not a “tank move”.

The Beady eyed douche planned on winning starting in 2016. I’m sure he didn’t plan on losing in 2017 either.

He built a crappy roster with a crappy head coach.

So let's just quit on the backcheck while we're shorthanded because I'm sick of losing? 😂😂😂Mitts had no excuse and really should be fired up to be playing his THIRD game all year.

There are several guys on this roster playing for their next contract (Vinny, Hayden, Drake, Hagg, and on and on and on...).

Even a guy like Bjork, with one more year on his deal, should be feeling some pressure to go show something.

Yes, Adams needs to get them a real goalie. And the "insiders" say he's working on that. Until then, whether it happens or not, they can come to play.

it'll make no difference if donnie meatballs can't figure out in-game adjustments and how to handle his players...

the positive reinforcement stuff works when things are going well or even when they're not but there's still a belief in the systems they're playing and the coaches who are directing it...

there's a thing called tuning out a coach which usually happens when losing is taking it's toll

this is not about the veteran scrubs...it's about development...

haven't you ever said, f^ck it at work for a shift, day, week or more when the sh!tshow you're caught up in just overwhelms your work-ethic and integrity?

Sorry Granato is slow on adjustments at times. But he's not on the ice passing the puck, missing assignments and getting manhandled like a little blonde girl.

As a follow up to this, how many times was Bill Zito passed over in our search for GM jobs ?

Obviously due to purposely losing in 2015 though right.

Same with trading ROR instead of Risto in 2018. Eichel, Reinhart, ROR, and Ehlers wouldn’t have won a thing because of the tank of 2015 probably.

just a quick point, he joined the jackets organization in 2013 and was named gm of the cleveland monsters in 2015...

so incompetent ownership/upper management that charts the course for this club and has made poor decisions for a decade is supposed to make the correct decisions now?

Yeah and they stopped purposefully losing in 2015.

Haven’t you been trying to say the last few days that losing with the intent of winning isn’t frowned upon ?

The irony

Not too long ago the love for Donnie was unreal and now it’s fading fast. He’s no miracle worker and asking him to make chicken soup out of chicken sh!t just won’t happen. Bringing in a so called saviour goalie isn’t the answer at this point. Ride it out, stay the course and enjoy the ride.

the buffalo sabres have lost 2 out of every 3 games in the last 8+ seasons

their top prizes from the tank years wanted out because they were in a losing situation

their top prize from a third last place finish in five seasons is feeling the weight of losing 145 games (117 reg losses, 28 ot) in 231 games played since he was drafted by the club...

that's a 63% loss-ratio, just slightly better than the 65% of losses that occurred since upper management went on their losing to win strategy back in 2012, almost a decade ago...

not sure what's so hard to figure out

- Michael Pachla

Is he?
You KNOW this?
Or is he feeling the weight that his individual GA e is contributing to the team loses.
It's the latter, I would suspect.

ahhh, daniel sohn, i've been saying that there is a losing culture since the tank years and that it's continuing and that you just don't turn on a switch and start winning...and that the two prize tank prizes got out of a losing culture...and that their no. 1 overall pick is starting to buckle under the weight of losing and look no further than dahlin's camp scoffing at a rumored long-term deal...

pham talking about three games of players giving up on plays...

it's unhealthy

Florida and Toronto managed to make the playoffs after years of disarray.

Toronto purposely lost for Nylander, Marner, Matthews.

Florida sucked enough for Ekblad, Barkov, Huberdeau.

Shanahan/Lou/Dubas, Tallon/Zito, Murray/Botts/Adams. One of these things are not like the other, I’ll let you guess why we still suck.
