I just don't see the need to be so intensely decisive with how you see things and how you're convinced you're in the know, but yes, to each his own.

People in the media / around the team have stated this is how it is going to run. While Molson danced around it (and Gorton to a lesser extent) to not appear to minimize the French leadership in the organization, everyone has reported that this is Gorton's show. They stated that Molson is saying, without coming out and directly saying it, that the GM will have responsibilities but that Gorton is setting the direction and strategy for the team.

People who think otherwise are just wishing for something different, mostly out of the misplaced guidance that French speaker (preferable from Quebec) needs to lead the team. And yes, that includes some of the French media.

So if peeps wanna live in denial... go ahead.

I really don't give a (frank) anymore.

I think there is a huge exaggeration that stems from the fact that Gorton has a lot of experience, while the new GM will most likely have a lot less. there's a difference between sharing your knowledge and vision, and having total control over things. it isn't like Gorton has never been wrong before and his decisions have never been put into question every where he's worked, and to think the GM will also represent a decision-making authority isn't such a preposterous idea. for me it has nothing to do with french vs english or whatever the (frank).

The perception that the GM is either in full control or a just puppet is part of the problem. They are not going to roll out a guy to give a press conference or a quote just to have a guy in French say the line and then put him back in the closet til the next time he is needed.

The GM will obviously have responsibilities, but he will not have total free reign like MB had.

So he will not be a puppet, but it seems very clear that Gorton is already setting the plan and the agenda for this organization moving forward and is not waiting on a GM to start that process.

In fact, I'd be surprised if he hires a GM before that plan is locked down.
