Absolutely. They maintain crazy zone times often but it’s all perimeter work and corner work. - 10inchTerror
Is it really all perimeter work if they’re 8th in 5v5 HDCF60? |

As someone else mentioned a lot of shots right to the chest as well....opposing goalies sponging up the rebounds that way, usually. - MattStrat
That's usually a sign of gripping your stick too tight which comes from not scoring lol. When players are patient they usually get more targeted shots on net, but when you're desperate you shoot anything.
That said, you don't want to wait TOO long and you should always get pucks on net, but there's that balance and timing that comes when you're a good finisher.

Not enough royal road passes making it easy for goalies to be squared up to the shooter at the top of the crease. |

The Pens just make life easy on goalies in general and that's been a problem for a long time. Too often they run into a "hot goalie" when in reality he's just seeing everything with time to spare.
Jarry definitely lost the Isles series for the Pens, but the Pens also made life too easy on Sorokin. When people look at the stats or heat maps it can be misleading. Not all high danger chances are equal.

They're getting good looks in quality areas. They just aren't beating goalies 1v1 when the goalie is set with a clear view. |

This is why you can't rely so much on advanced stats. They don't tell you where the bodies were and what was happening in front of the net. It just tells you the general area they were when they had a chance.

EK going full EK
* The Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Penguins are topping this list and I have been writing about their desire for Gallagher four a few weeks here…It is also not Impossible that Evander Kane ends up in Pittsburgh… |

So I didn’t watch this game but from the highlights it looks like Sullivan’s plan was to put Crosby head to head with Mcdavid. Even without Malkin, that is just setting Crosby up to fail. |

The Penguins switched up their lines at practice. The top trio was the only one that stayed intact:
Guentzel-Crosby-Rodrigues
Zucker-Carter-Heinen
McGinn-Blueger-Kapanen
Aston-Reese--O'Connor-Simon
Dumoulin-Letang
Pettersson-Marino
Friedman and Ruhwedel rotated with Matheson |

Like it, let's see if Blueger and Kap pick up where they left off when Kap first got to play here. And DOC being in makes me happy haha |

That poop was borderline offensive. He should be canceled for his insensitivity toward Forest Gump and other mentally disabled Alabamans.
The difference in vibes between Kelly's introduction at LSU vs. Freeman's introduction at Notre Dame has been pretty night and day. Addition by subtraction, even if Freeman flops. |

Listen man, I grew up in South Carolina. I know what a southern country bumpkin twang is supposed to sound like, which was the closest thing to what Kelly was trying to do, and what came out was hilariously bad. Him doing a twang instead of a New Orleans-style drawl or what ever the (frank) creole is is also very telling of how out of touch he is with his new local. (frank)ing yankee ass carpetbagger. He'll be out of there in four years. |

I'd agree in other seasons but not in this one. They're around and driving to the net a lot more to my eyes. Started seeing an uptick in it last season. |

Gives Blueger some much needed speed. Depending on how they are utilized, I suspect they will still get the bulk of the D-zone starts. Let's Kapanen use his speed to open the ice up.
O'Connor gets the net front guy, ZAR. They will get sheltered. ZAR and Simon are always benched for a second center on the defensive draws.
Carter loses some speed but gets a guy more willing to go to the dirty areas in Heinen. Heinen gets the much needed ice time he's earned.
I think it's the most balanced lines we've had in quite some time.

Would be nice if this lasts more than one period. Don't be surprised if the second period Simon goes to Sid's wing and Kapanen gets demoted from the fourth line to the third line.
