Honestly, I couldn't care less. Look at the team he joined. He isn't a one man show.
I'm worried about the Sabres success and how their players and picks work out, not about a player who joined a stacked team.
Imo, Skunk is underperforming this year based on the players he's playing with.
I understand where you're coming from, though. - Powerslave
I agree with you, just wanted to play devils advocate. Sam is a chess player, heβs quietly consistent, I am excited to watch him in the playoffs. That trade was needed and the return was what the organization was looking for, futures, that tear down was all addition by subtraction so win/win IMO. |

Have to trade him, too many D. Try to get a RHD prospect back, throw in one of our LHD prospects if need be to increase the quality of aforementioned righty. They need to balance this thing somehow. - RhinoFan
I'd move our late first for Erik Cernak |

That's a little tough given success probabilities with picks. You can get a great return that ultimately sees no juice. You can pick 26th and draft Pasta instead. I get where you're coming from and I agree it's low return, however Levi has gained value since.
Forgot on Rosen but wondered if Levi's hot start made some pause on considering it an outright loss. - RhinoFan
Not knocking Levi in the slightest. He had good value on the day of the trade. How a future late 1st works out just doesn't factor in for me. If they get lucky, awesome. Just won't change how I view the trade.

So its kA's fault that a 2nd overall pick couldn't put together a couple undeniably great seasons, to earn a long term deal?
There's a reason they strung sam along.
He isn't a core piece on any team.
Playing 3rd line minutes.....
Massive mistake... π - Boss34

Respectfully disagree with a lot of this, I think you'd find the Panthers fans very happy with the trade. He's had some clutch goals for them, game winner the other night and two to tie games up in the 3rd. And Bennett has the same number of points in 4 less games, "completely outplaying" is strong. - RhinoFan
Good points and I appreciate the gentle banter.
Let's ask the Florida fan who he would rather have on his team? Sam or sam.
Sam B. brings so many intangibles, plus has the points...
Sam has started slow, had an excellent gw the other day.
Goals like that, win games.... π€ |

What if Skunk hoists the conn smyth and Stanley cup this season as the playoff scoring leader, then goes on to help Florida go on a 6 seasons of playoffs as a great clutch performer and winner, then who wins? - washedup20
Well it really doesn't matter, he gone. |

Strange when you're comparing the trades though from a team perspective.
They definitely miss risto with the dropoff of "#1 " defenseman and the amount of goals they've been given up. Dahlin, his replacement, is a joke.....
They have made up the scoring that the former " #1rw" sam brought to this team. Seems like olo, skimmer, and the rest of the team have filled in admirably.
I'm glad both our gone.
Both trades were addition by subtraction.
Hagg adds to the addition part as well βοΈ - Boss34
Dahlin isnβt holding up defensively for sure, but pretending Risto would/did hold up defensively because Dahlin is not isnβt really true. Like at all. |

Last blog 4 am post.
Sam looking like a complete tool. Spoiled brat getting asked a question about being paid as a professional athlete, but giving up on a play that resulted in a goal.

what do you do with miller?
throw him 5 mil a year?
trade him?
he is playing at a 40 point per year guy this year - homiedclown
He is having a good year, I wouldn't mind if they resigned him. A right side of Theodore Joker Miller would be solid!! ππ
If not trade him to the Islanders for Bode Wilde |

He signed him to a 1 year deal then sold low when basically forced. Gross mishandling. Really nothing to discuss on that part, and as you know, I'm not his biggest fan.
Sam is much better than VO. If they give VO a 1 year deal, I'll rant on that too.

Sam played 6 games out of 22 over 17 minutes.
2 since barkov went down.

I disagree with this post.
Dahlin is being forced to play difficult matchups.

he was minus 36 last year, minus 4 now
it is going in the right direction esp with being forced to play in more difficult matchups
