Rosen isn't part of that trade, he's part of the Risto trade. Which many view as addition by subtraction regardless of how Rosen pans out.
- SDSabre

Strange when you're comparing the trades though from a team perspective.

They definitely miss risto with the dropoff of "#1 " defenseman and the amount of goals they've been given up. Dahlin, his replacement, is a joke.....

They have made up the scoring that the former " #1rw" sam brought to this team. Seems like olo, skimmer, and the rest of the team have filled in admirably.

I'm glad both our gone.
Both trades were addition by subtraction.
Hagg adds to the addition part as well ☝️

Out of curiosity, what's the overall feeling on the Reinhart trade now. He's obviously been doing well, Levi has, Rosen was a high pick that's being underplayed. We like it, love it or hate it?
- RhinoFan

I don't think you judge trades on how the futures turn out, you judge them based on their value at the time of the trade. Excluding Rosen completely, since he wasn't in the deal. It was a weak return. The hate is that KA backed himself into that position.

Exactly lun, the exact same gm traded the other former #1 pick within a week or so.

Which value at the time of return is better?

1st, 2nd and a player

Future 1st and a 7th round goalie.

I'll hang up a listen.

* tokawski is gonna stand in his head tonight a steal the game.

Anyone who hated the trade is going to have your opinion.

If Levi turns out to be a starting goalie, it's a very fair trade. If the first turns out to be a contributing member of the team, Sabres win that trade.

This is a very good post but,

You're taking out the variable of Sam's play and contributions on a winning team.

He pulls a ror and leads them to a cup....

If he is a complete disappointment and scores less than his 65 type point season...

What if Skunk hoists the conn smyth and Stanley cup this season as the playoff scoring leader, then goes on to help Florida go on a 6 seasons of playoffs as a great clutch performer and winner, then who wins?

Yes, everyone respects your opinion....

Levi looks good and the 1st in a good draft should count as well.

More likely sam's a healthy scratch in the playoffs, than a mvp.

Heart and determination are more important than the regular season.

After watching sam play 200+ games live, he's missing that balls out approach.... and speed....

Honestly, I couldn't care less. Look at the team he joined. He isn't a one man show.

I'm worried about the Sabres success and how their players and picks work out, not about a player who joined a stacked team.

Imo, Skunk is underperforming this year based on the players he's playing with.

I understand where you're coming from, though.

That's a little tough given success probabilities with picks. You can get a great return that ultimately sees no juice. You can pick 26th and draft Pasta instead. I get where you're coming from and I agree it's low return, however Levi has gained value since.

Forgot on Rosen but wondered if Levi's hot start made some pause on considering it an outright loss.

There's a huge value gap between a mid-1st this year and a late 1st next year.

Sam is a significantly better player and KA completely botched his contract. So much material to work with here. Ultimately, KA paid a massive price for his year 1 mistakes.

5 goals 13 points in 22 games is probably less than expected

18 goal 50 type point season is well, but not a 6+ million $ guy and the current rate...

Sam does start slow, probably a bit of a learning curve, with a new team and system.

He's gonna pick up the pace.
Sam Bennett is completely outplaying him ☝️

- Boss34

Respectfully disagree with a lot of this, I think you'd find the Panthers fans very happy with the trade. He's had some clutch goals for them, game winner the other night and two to tie games up in the 3rd. And Bennett has the same number of points in 4 less games, "completely outplaying" is strong.

Have to trade him, too many D. Try to get a RHD prospect back, throw in one of our LHD prospects if need be to increase the quality of aforementioned righty. They need to balance this thing somehow.

So its kA's fault that a 2nd overall pick couldn't put together a couple undeniably great seasons, to earn a long term deal?

There's a reason they strung sam along.
He isn't a core piece on any team.
Playing 3rd line minutes.....

Massive mistake... 😀
