If CF is really committed to no changes until Ellis gets back, then he's probably first in the firing line if the team keeps losing.

Dave Scott does not like inaction.

Even a head coaching change is only going to do so much. Hopefully just get the players headed in the right direction. It won't be able to overcome Fletcher's bonehead moves.

And the worst bit is they have no elite prospects coming up. They're stacked with aging middling talent that just cannot compete, skate, and execute with the rest of the league. It's going to be abysmal for years. Brightest spotlight for Philadelphia is the wonderful play of Carter Hart.

This team is basically the product of 3 bad GMs in a row. Homer put them in salary cap hell. Hextall fixed that, but basically did nothing as far as finding top end talent, and Fletcher just simply isn't a very good GM period. Look no further than Steve Yzerman. Dude builds a perennial champion in Tampa and now he is rebuilding Detroit. They have good young players contributing and they are currently 7 points ahead of the sad sack Flyers in the standings.

I miss how candid Jake was in interviews.

And they REALLY miss having him on the ice.

Changing coaches is not a guarantee but they just can't sit back and let the team stagnate. Waiting until Ellis, the savior returns. It's broken down. You don't go from this over an entire season to contending the next. The repair needs to start now and that is with a coaching change.
- MJL

We’re in agreement. When does the trigger get pulled here? Lose the next two badly at home with boos raining down from a half empty building the latter being the real issue to ownership?

I'd fire Fletcher and bring Briere in. That would make more of an impact than firing Vigneault and replacing him with one of the stooges on his staff.

Jake and JVR both had 43 points last season on the same team.

This season Jake has 18 and JVR has 6.

Homer put them in salary cap hell, but we had good years to account for it. I wouldn't consider Homer a failure. Most teams that go to the cup have a few years of cap issues after. Now being is salary cap hell and being non competitive would be an issue

Ronnie and Chuck are a different story.

Look at Gostisbehere. 3 G, 16 pts in 24 games and +1 on an absolute tire fire of a team. Ghost was a gift the Flyers drafted - and I think they mismanaged him completely. Jake is/has been a beast of a player for a while now and he's one of those big elite athletes that probably has some decent years left in him. Big mistake trading him away IMO.

Jake was here for how long with the same type of roster? You really think having him this year makes any significant diff with this team?

With or without him this team is not good.

LOL, Jake is NOT a beast in any way shape or form. He is a big SOFT athlete. We've all seen his act. Yes, he'll get his PP assists and he can carry play(that part the Flyers miss), but he is very soft for his size. Ghost is playing well, but that ship needed to sail too. The biggest problem I have with that is giving up a 2nd round pick to get rid of him. Now the Yotes will probably trade him at the deadline to a contender and get even more picks for him. They made out like bandits and Chucky boy looks like an idiot.

Agree. Had he stayed they still would be mismanaging him.

Jake like CC has run his course. Has nothing to do with him being a productive player.

I really don't know enough about Briere's management ceiling to have an opinion on him.

I just hope whoever it is, that they separate out the President role and put somebody there with enough weight to stand up to the Comcast suits. They could really use a strong buffer between ownership and the GM.

Bring back Iron Mike Keenan as G/M head coach and Tochett as his assistant and watch how quickly the culture changes.

This season, now looks identical to last season as far as results go. The injuries have not helped and continue to bury this team. Did the changes Fletch made on paper look good, yes..thought this team was going to perform vastly different, but unfortunately that offseason team has not been on the ice yet. The parts that are on the ice are not good enough collectively to compete.

MJL is correct in his assessment that if this went south we were in a bad place with the cap.

My proposals...since Chuck could not offer any (an I get why)

find suitors for Risto as the TDL approaches and look for players that are about to be NHL ready...no draft picks (unless that is the only option)...player for player swap if you can find it. And it needs to be a skilled forward.

Ask G to waive his NMC (or NTC), get him to a team to give him a shot and see a different culture. The bring him back so he can retire as a Flyer.

Trade off what you can at the TDL from all the guys on 1 yr deals. Sell them all.

Bring up kids and fill in the spots...they are not going to bake well in the AHL with all the injuries down there either.

Look for a trade partner for JVR, there has to be an option for him. Good player, but he is in the wrong system. Eat salary (up to half) if needed.

Bottom line for me is that the Flyers, even once healthy cannot climb out of this hole
