It's funny how nobody notices he's playing well until he scores a goal. Next game he doesn't show up on the score sheet he will go back to looking "lost" again. Then cue the "Is Frost playing?" lame jokes.

- Tomahawk

He should have been called up a few weeks ago. What's even funnier is if not for the injures he wouldn't even be on the roster. Let that sink in as the GM really has the pulse of the team and organization.

TK gone- I like him but inconsistent play is his downfall. He struggles at times to create his own chances.
- bird_dog_pa

TK is one of the few guys on the team capable of creating their own chances.

His problem is and has always been that he gets too down on himself. He throws his damned head back every time he takes a shot that doesn't go in. He loses his damned mind when he isn't scoring, starts pressing and his all-around game falls apart.

Doesn't help that he's ALWAYS the first guy to get demoted when the team isn't playing well. He's the one guy that I feel would flourish under a new coach.

I miss how candid Jake was in interviews.

And they REALLY miss having him on the ice.

- Tomahawk

with Jake here they are still in the same spot imo give or a take maybe a game or 2 at best.

So you're saying these talented players are not scoring and not playing well because they don't like their coach? You can talk systems all you want, but does the system cause that turnover by Laughton? Does the system cause that play between Risto and Provey the other night? Does the system cause Thompson to just blindly throw a pass across his own zone? Does the system cause these Flyers to shoot the puck into the goalie's chest? Does the system cause Provey and Yandle to both chase a Devil forward and leave the slot open? I really don't think so. You talk about low IQ on Risto, and I will agree with that at times he does do something that is head scratching, but I am seeing dumb, stupid, beyond rookie mistakes all over the ice from just about everyone in the lineup.
- jd250

When Justin Braun has been your best Dman 20 games ( no offense to him) you have to know the team is in trouble. He was supposed to be our 5-6 depth man. The injury to Ellis has not helped but I thought Provorov and Sanheim would be much better at this stage in their career. Then there is Risto, who knows what you will get and finally Seeler and Yandle which is nothing but trouble.

So....what's the ONE constant that hasn't been changed?

Let's focus on that.

So what time is the presser to announce that AV is being replaced by Torts?? Looks like the players have quit on the coach and it looks like the coach has quit on the players. What a stupid phucking move to pull your goalie AT THE END of the PP!! AV continues to make head scratching decisions. It's as if he is trying to get fired at this point. What the hell.....he'll still get good coin! No one is untouchable on this team....NO ONE!!!!!

And did it within 4 years, that is what is impressive. I think this is what the Flyers had wished they could do under Hextall but the difference is they didn't sell their current veterans and get higher picks, and the Flyers missed on too many 1st and 2nd round picks. The Rangers currently have 4 1st round and 4 2nd round picks playing on their team, that is impressive in this time frame.
- jd250

I think Jim Jackson said last night the Rags have 11 first round picks on the roster, trades, FA etc. Also they are the second youngest team in the league . Pretty impressive if you ask me. Like you said also, rebuilt in 4 years.

Please fire Fletcher and hire Briere. This team needs a new voice a young gm with new ideas. Av takes a lot of slack but not even Scotty bowman could help this team win.

I would love to see Dave Scott get fired but that’s probably unlikely unless the flyers building can’t fill half the rink during home games.
- bird_dog_pa

The Flyers are but a fraction of what's in Dave Scott's portfolio. Just the Flyers sucking won't get him fired.

Dave Scott is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Comcast Spectacor and serves as Governor of the Philadelphia Flyers for the National Hockey League. As Chairman, Scott is responsible for the growth of Comcast Spectator’s core businesses: The Wells Fargo Center arena and complex, as well as a portfolio of professional sports teams that includes the National Hockey League’s Philadelphia Flyers, the Overwatch League’s Philadelphia Fusion, the National Lacrosse League’s Philadelphia Wings and the Maine Mariners of the ECHL.

Scott oversees Comcast Spectacor’s investments in partner companies and serves as CEO of Spectra, a hospitality firm specializing in Venue Management, Food Services & Hospitality and Partnerships. Under Scott’s direction, Wells Fargo Center continues to serve as the company’s flagship arena and is consistently ranked a top-five “must play” venue in the United States. Wells Fargo Center continues to capture the national spotlight by hosting prestigious events such as the 2016 NCAA Men’s Basketball East Regional matchups, the 2016 Democratic National Convention as well as the 2019 Overwatch League Grand Finals.

For me the goal was irrelevant. Since Frost has been recalled he has been noticeable out there and last night I thought he looked more confident and assertive, you can see his skill on display. That is why I made the comment I did, nothing to do with the goal.
- jd250

I think he’s been solid since returning. Last night was prob his best game though. Even if he doesn’t score there, he was moving with speed and making great passes and decisions with the puck. He looks just a bit stronger than before which makes all the difference imo. If by some miracle the team get healthy, to me, you’d look at him playing 3c and brassard 4. Thompson is prob gonzo with the injury anyway.

Also, I thought Hayes played well. He moved around fine and made good passes on the pp. the pp actually looked decent except for the late one.

If your torts or any head coach is this job really that appealing when looking at the big picture? Coach comes in and there is a good chance the GM is fired after the season so now you are working for a guy who didn't hire you.

I'm saying that this team is again in a mental funk. Same as they were last year. It is clear as day. THEY-CANNOT-PLAY-UNDER-THIS-COACH! No matter what you want to blame it on. When a team is in a mental funk, you see what you're referring to. Not being able to make simple plays across the board. It is not just those two players. It is with every player across the board. You can see in their hesitation and in their confusion on the ice. Your last comments say it all. It tells you what needs to happen.

Torts will go just about anywhere that will have him. It's musical chairs, and half his chairs have already been kicked over. He'll take whatever opens up, especially if it's a prestige org like the Flyers (don't laugh).

Plus, this kind of on-the-fly team rehab is his personal specialty.

(not saying I want him btw, he's a (frank)ing dinosaur like AV)

I'd rather have the next cutting edge coach but I don't know who that is. The issue with established coaches is that they're locked into their systems. AV is that way and so is Tortorella. I think he would improve the team defensively but I don't think they can play his press forecheck. This team needs a mental reset.

Omfg can you imagine if that ends up happening? I wouldn’t be shocked. You know the first move is the coaching staff.

This coaching staff is a player killer. Young players get seriously damaged in situations like this. They ruined Myers. They almost ruined Hart and don't know if he can handle this a second time. They're in the process of ruining Lindblom, Konecny and Farabee. Even Provorov who is a veteran is being hurt by this.
He didn't have near the talent but Dave Hakstol was a better coach than AV has been.

How many losses in a row does it take before action is taken?

This franchise is a laughing stock right now. 16 straight games scoring 3 goals or less. And it's two or less in 13 of the 16.

Here's what they will do today. Announce Farabee is out 4-6 weeks and recall Willman.

Yes, The Flyers are still the Flyers. Lots of love and hate for them around the league. I think torts would do it and it would be entertaining if nothing else. AV and his butt buddy(Therrien) need to go yesterday! How do you not pull your goalie when you get that late PP while trailing by 2? Then to make it worse he pulls the goalie as the penalty expires. AV doesn't care anymore. He and Therrien need to be shown the door now!!

the coaching staff is bad. Very bad. Stop with the ruined nonsense. Players need to be accountable as well. Bunch of soft fn gina's is what I see. Captain Comfortable has rubbed off on way to many players.

They can not turn the page until he is gone.

That will be the first action I’d say but who do you bring in? I mean how many coaches have we blown through here since lavy?

If CF is really committed to no changes until Ellis gets back, then he's probably first in the firing line if the team keeps losing.

Dave Scott does not like inaction.

Changing coaches is not a guarantee but they just can't sit back and let the team stagnate. Waiting until Ellis, the savior returns. It's broken down. You don't go from this over an entire season to contending the next. The repair needs to start now and that is with a coaching change.
