so as of 12:01pm today, Semyonov will no longer be a Leafs.

Does he get claimed or is he back to the KHL?

If cap wasnt a concern. Kadri would mostly likely still be a leaf.
Kadri is having a career year for sure.

- Fakepartofme

He should as this is a contract year for him.

I read that the irrevocable waivers was because he wanted to return to the KHL. He was frustrated at the lack of opportunity. Unfortunately for him, you either make the opportunity yourself, or you can't. He couldn't and didn't.

Let me put some numbers to it:

The Islanders currently have a .353 winning percentage, and are on a pace for a 58 point season.

If you assume a team will need 98 points to make the playoffs (kind of an edumacated guess, based upon history), they need to play at a .662 pace for the rest of the season. That's the equivalent of playing at a 108 point season over 82 games.

That's going to be tough.

- Atomic Wedgie

Tough division to play in at that pace.

95 points usually makes the playoffs. 98 pretty much guarantees it.

Right _now_ they'd need 96 points, based on Boston's projection - but your point is well taken. Basically to get _there_, they'd need to go 38-21-8 which is .646. Last year they were @ .634; the last time they had a winning percentage that high was 1983-84, when they lost the Cup Finals to the Oilers and their dynasty ended.

Yikes.

Highest points total to miss the playoffs was 96.

It happened to the Habs and the Bruins as far as I recall.

We got 3 out of 4 playing their role well out of the free agents. I'll take it.

Kase
Kampf
Bunting

Ritchie has been okay. I think he's doing alright but we all expected more from him.

- Aaron_85

He’s looked good on line 4, his bank account is wishing he’d looked good on line 1

91 wins in the AL misses the playoffs.

It's usually 93 to 95 or so. The lowest point total to make the playofs, full 82 game seasons is 87 I think.

Do you mean when the Habs defeated the Leafs 4 games to 3 in the first round?

Just wanted to make sure.

You're a little low.

2018-19: 98 pts
2017-18: 97 pts
2016-17 95 pts (Rangers were first wildcard with 102 points)
2015-16: 96 pts
2014-15: 98 pts
2013-14: 93 pts

Note: this is for the Eastern Conference

You make it sound like Ritchie is paid way more than 2.5M per season.

now do the western conerence. I think one year tgere was a divisional seed lower than the last wildcard as well. Detroit with a div seed at 93 points, 2016

It is fir the fourth line when the top guys are paid what they’re paid. 2.5M was fine if he was playing on the top line.

I like that he’s playing better but he’s an expensive luxury
