You are correct.
The thing is, I'll take a team doing really well in the standings over a period of years and falling short in the playoffs versus a team that sucks poop and never makes the playoffs. Making the playoffs as a top seed consistently, good things will happen. St. Louis, Washington, Tampa, etc.
