This is pretty much the biggest reason. When the Sedins were here and the organization was winning, lots of players chose to sign here. It was a team to play for. Right now? Not so much.

Vancouver as a city is great if you love what it provides (outdoors, amazing food, etc), but like you mentioned it also has some serious negatives that some people would rather avoid.

Anything else is bearable and in the city/province is actually appealing to many despite it's high cost if you be part of a winning organization. There's just no evidence at this point that a plan is in place to actually make this happen any time soon.

You are right. If it was a top notch organization some players would overlook some of the other issues. But not all players. And not all coaches/ executives etc
