Where are you getting the high, medium and low danger stats from?
- MJL

Go to the same team stat page on Natural Stat Trick that you use https://www.naturalstattrick.com/teamtable.php

I think the default option greys out low and medium danger stats. But if you click on the show/hide button and ungrey the respective areas, you will find all 3 categories on the same page.

Was listening to the NHL Network on Sirius/XM(Boomer Gordon) this afternoon and they had Al Morganti on. Al said if the Flyers don't turn this around in the next 10 to 14 days he expects AV to be a goner and to have Torts take over for him! Next 3 games against the Rags, Lanche and Lightning. Good luck with that!

They also brought up what I thought was a valid point about Provorov. They mentioned that many of these young defenders are coming into the league and being pillars for their team while Provorov seems to need that veteran presence to succeed. It's very true and disappointing from a defenseman that I thought could vie for a Norris trophy a few years ago.

Provorov is a solid defenseman but not a #1 by any means. He doesnt carry play and like you said he needs a #1 guy to be effective. Never will be an All Star. As far as Flyers next 3 games go they will win at least 2 starting with tonite. It's what the Flyers do. Then everyone will buy back in .

Provorov was always overhyped on being a future Norris trophy player. Provorov has the ability to fill a lane and score goals offensively. However he is not much a playmaker and not very effective on the PP. So he'll never likely be a big enough point producer to get Norris consideration.

If you look at those defenseman, what is the team situation they play on. Provorov has had to be this team's #1 since he was 19 years old. That's not how a young guy should break in. He's played the majority of his career on mediocre teams. Many want to knock him because he's not good enough to overcome the teams deficiencies by himself. The overwhelming number of defenseman in the league would eventually break down in the situations that Provorov has faced. If Provorov was moved to another team that was better, we'd all be saying he wasn't this good when he was here. So what's the problem? Same thing with Giroux and Couturier. They aren't the issue. The team around them is.

Well according to CF the coaching staff was working all yesterday to figure this thing out, so Seeler at 2D must be the ticket.
- Tomahawk

And all they could come up with was pairing Seeler with Provorov?

I see Provorov as more of a #2 than a #1. On this team however, he has to be the #1. Tonight he apparently has to be the #1 playing with Nick Seeler.

Provorov is similar to Ryan McDonaugh calibre, if that’s your #1 you better have a very good group behind him which we obviously do not.

Ryan McDonagh is probably one of the top 3-5 defenders in the NHL. He used to put up a decent amount of points also.

And when Provorov is on his game he is an excellent player. Neither have ever been a victor Hedman and both are probably suited as the #2 and not THE guy on a team. The Ranger teams teams when Mcdonaugh was there had very good depth and arguable the best goalie of his time

Rags have:
Scored 1 less goal in high danger areas than opponents. For us, it is 4 less. (Difference: Rags +3, as you point out)
Scored 3 more goals in medium danger areas than opponents. For us, it is 1 more.
(Difference: Rags: +2)
Scored same # of goals in low danger areas than opponents, ours is 4 worse
(Difference: Rags +4)

So, altogether, Rangers have scored 9 more goals compared to their opponents than we have scored compared to ours (5-on-5). Of those 9, 4 have been in the low danger areas, 3 in high danger, and 2 in medium danger areas. But, there isn't as much disaprity in possession stats for medium and low danger areas as there is in high danger areas. Which presumably means that either our goalies have let in relatively more softies or its been bad luck or whatever.

Thats why I focused on HD areas. And yes, of course our pp inneptitude is a major factor, but I thought we were looking at the even strength drivers.

You seem obsessed with Kreider's shooting %!

(Btw, the stats I provided earlier for Rags s% was wrong. They are 14.47, we are 12.5.)

- PT21

You're assuming there's some correlation between chance data and overall team sh%.

And if a guy has scored almost a quarter of his team's goals, it's kind of an important point to raise.
