Every team had a representative present during the ping pong ball lottery. The lottery was run by a third party accounting firm. If it were done behind closed doors with only a few NHL officials, sure, it would look rigged. Crosby was an instant cash printing machine the minute he was drafted. It's not possible teams would have stayed silent if they felt the lottery was crooked. Could you imagine teams like the Rangers and Flyers sitting back and staying silent if things weren't completely transparent? No chance.

Big surprise all the chirping to and from oil fans. I love high skill / high octane hockey played by star players. We’ve been fortunate for the Crosby era and if we aren’t winning the cup I hope someone who doesn’t slog up the ice does. Going to be a great game and crazy that I think this is the first time 87 vs 97 had been featured in the US nationally. Too much Flyers/Bruins not enough this.

Lol

I’ve witnessed them all, thanks.

I’m not sure if you’re old, (or intelligent), enough to remember the highly dubious circumstances surrounding the Crosby draft.
Floundering franchise, NHL Lockout, etc. But I digress.

The Oilers weren’t handed a generational talent… it could be easily argued that Edmonton was the last market the NHL wanted McDavid in.

Your hyperbole could very easily be applied to Pitt… like 200 first overalls or something, (see how that works?). But I’m sure you’ll miss the point given that Whitney, (5th), Gino, (2nd) surely wouldn’t count as blue chip prospects.

Idiot

I wonder if Sid's wrist is 100%. He hasn't been great on draws and even ERod takes them sometimes.

If this was the Pens' broadcast I could hear Errey saying, "the Pens need one goal and they're back in this."

Don't they still do the ping ball portion behind closed doors? All I ever see is Bettman holding up cards.
