Chiarelli was the kind of GM I wished on the teams that I hated. I was happy that he probably prevented the Bruins from establishing a dynasty but then he ended up in Edmonton (a team I am neutral about) instead of, for example, a place like Washington where his effect might have prevented their 2018 Cup win. Fortunately the Flyers didn't need him to not win.

If it were not for Chia the Oilers would probably be winning Cups now. This was one of the points of Ryan's blog, Oilers fans .

Chia was probably the second worst GM in league history, only surpassed by Milbury.

Every team had a representative present during the ping pong ball lottery. The lottery was run by a third party accounting firm. If it were done behind closed doors with only a few NHL officials, sure, it would look rigged. Crosby was an instant cash printing machine the minute he was drafted. It's not possible teams would have stayed silent if they felt the lottery was crooked.
