I've heard a few media people saying they should have hired a francophone for Gorton's position as well... I don't see this as "them winning" though, but more of a compromise. now many will continue whining because the GM still needs to speak French, but oh well, it is what it is lol

you manage people Pete? I know I did. I was in the exact same position once. I had to hire 2 employees who would have to work together. I invited one to attend the interview of the second. asked him what he though of the guy afterwards... you want them to succeed.
of course if Gorton says no way jose, Molson will think about it twice before hiring him. but at the end of the day, it's Molson who will hire the guy. and fire him too.
