Lots of talk surrounding that topic for sure. I'd be all for it. With him and Weber gone it would make things a bit easier. Gallagher's contract could be tricky to move as well.

They would need to retain salary on Price, Gallagher and maybe Petry, or take less than desirable contracts back but that's fine....

Price, Gallagher, Petry, Chiarot, Toffoli, Hoffman, Edmundson, Dvorak, Lehkonen, Armia, Drouin, Perrault, Kulak, Paquette, Niku and Wideman for picks, prospects and salary dumps that could be flipped later down the road

I feel like taking back bad but shorter contracts could be the key.

Kinda how Bergevin traded Erik Cole for Michael Ryder back in the day.

Where do i sign?

Short term pain for long-term gain. They missed their window earlier to go the proper rebuild route. Now it'll be a bit uglier, but we need to start fresh, have a direction/plan and stick to it.

Should be an interesting draft with Gorton at the helm too.

Pretty much.... and if you target the right players, you can acquire assets from dealing them too, like they should have done with Tatar

For sure, should move as many of the ones listed as possible and aim to have 6-10 picks in the top 64 of the draft

We are 6 points behind with 3 more games played.

You have no chance!

Really thought the Flyers would do better this year.

That would definitely increase the odds of getting impact players, blue chips etc. and accelerate the process for sure.

They'll also have to comb through the 47(?) picks they've amassed in the last 4-5 years too to make room for newer contracts.

Read that the Islanders would have serious interest in Toffoli, apparently Lou went after him hard the summer he signed in Montreal.... Edmonton keeps popping up as potential trade partners, as do the Rags, Flames, Avs & Blues

Ducharme just letting everyone know that the development issues are NOT a myth. Should have fired that clown too with the other 3.
- Snots33_77

On the other hand, I don't think that in his mind he's in a player development mode right now. This is a guy who is trying to hang on to his job.

If they sit with him and tell him they don't mind taking a step back this season and that his job won't be in jeopardy because of his results in the win column, I think that would help.

They need to really have a talk and clarify with him. Doubt that happens before the new GM is in place though. It wouldn't be fair to the new guy to set the plan before he's even here.

at this point though you gotta think a coaching change would be necessary, Ducharme might just be too buddy-buddy with his players lol... not Vigneault or Therrien though (jfc) but I wouldn't mind Hartley to at least assist him and help him out in this mess

no need to "set the plan", just tell him to play the kids in the meantime, and not put Caufield on the 4th line...

I agree, they need to communicate the plan to all levels of the organization.

But his regular season record is still horrible, and I'm not so sure the players are buying in to his system or able to properly execute the system as well. I was looking forward to him being the coach. Now.....not so much.
