I'm not saying math is the only factor in any or every decision but that doesn't mean math doesn't apply. Studies show 98% of decisions humans make are emotional rather than rational, that doesn't mean there isn't math that applies in those situations, just that the decision maker either chooses to ignore it or takes it into account and decides against it. The math still applies in every example you brought up but the emotions of the situation lead to other decisions...that doesn't change the math or mean it doesn't apply.

Math never tells the whole story but it also never lies. The basic math point from stats and probability is that when you increase the pool of candidates you increase your chances of finding the best hire and if the french guy is the best hire that will stand up even when the pool is increased. That's all.

I always say very little is black or white (fully) in life and the grey zone covers most of it, so yes looking at it that way we agree that there so many factors to consider in any decision, just not sure Math is ALWAYS that important, haha
