Math applies to everything. Whether a decision maker chooses to apply the math (which never lies) is what is at issue
- Takemedrunkimhome

Guy Carbonneau has a better win/lose % than any anglophone coach they could ever hire (carreer 0.590), mathimatically in absolute numbers he's a better carreer coach than Barry Trotz

Yes, that is an accurate depiction of raw numbers. What a decision maker chooses to do with those raw numbers is up to them

who cares about the coach though (Bilingual vs Anglo), until they have a decent team to put on the ice and are able to develop young players within the organization, it's all to please the media mostly.

old school, does not care about mental health and feelings, that's how he learned to play, all about the performance, young players don't respond to that type of coaching anymore.

If you haven't read it yet, Marc-Antoine Godin's piece on Bergevin's tenure written on The Athletic is the best article on the subject I've read so far.

It perfectly summarizes how, despite doing plenty of good moves, Bergevin usually ended up cancelling them with another move down the line and how in the end, the whole team lacked a clear direction.

Anyway, great article, well worth the subscription.

nowadays sure, but when he was first fired, what 15 years ago? when Torts, Boudreau, Keenan and many others kept getting hired he wasn't? don't be a fool.

Absolutely not, are you and accountant for (frank) sake? (thats a joke)

how about

Selling a dream
public image
pride, lets say to work for an organisation
obtaining your goals ( or trying to)
accomplishements ( or feeling of)
etc

lots of intangible were a math formula wont give you the answer, in my humble opinion thats all
