I don't follow. What's the logic there? - Chunk
Hard to move off his spot, good eye hand coordination, i just don't think Dach, Strome are tough enough to be effective in that position. |

#18 if I recall correctly. I always liked Maloney, don’t remember who exactly they got back for him. - Angotti
A 35 yo old Ralph Backstrom. |

Sounds like Toews got his preferred change to his role on the PP. Strome and Dach swapping bumper role duties. DBC sent to 2nd PP unit which is a surprise, but now, I'd expect that King better manages the amount of time each unit gets. Should evenly split as much as possible if it goes the full 2 min. |

Kane on the left and Toews in the circle for the one timer...hmm
I actually like getting Kane off that right wall. Never thought he was helping a lot by sitting there stationary the entire time. Too easy to defend and predict passes to him from the other guys. He's elusive and incredible with the tape-to-tape passes, but moreso when he's moving.

I can understand that. I just didn't get equating that to Gus on the PP. |

The two best shooters on the 2nd unit. I actually really like Borgstrom being a distributor on that unit (although he also has a really good wrister).
The first unit scares me a bit in that there seem to be a lot of guys who like to pass. Strome was a bit more willing to shoot when he was in, so hopefully he grabs that opportunity. |

Kane is better than Kubalik.
Kane and Dcat is a toss-up. Don't forget Kane has 2 40 goal season and he is pass first guy.
I don't think Dcat actually has that good of a one-timer. He flubs a lot of them. Dcat is a goal scorer but I wouldn't say he is an elite one-timer.

You lost me a bit there. ADB has generated between about 30-50% of his goals on the PP and most of them are from the same spot with the same shot. Ovie and Panarin both flub that shot as well, it just doesn't make the highlights.
I was talking more about PP shooters. ADB and Kubalik routinely let it fly as long as they have some sort of lane and the pass is in the wheelhouse. The other guys (Strome, Toews, Dach, Kane) tend to try to move the puck more unless they have the "perfect" shot. |

Scored quite a few goals actually and was a first round draft choice for Chicago. Something made them get rid of him? They had "King Kong Korab" behind him they didn't need him as an enforcer anymore.
Wiz could probably tell us the whole story.... - rpeters01
Maloney indeed had a jackhammer right and great uppercut as well. One night in the old barn I think it was a puck that hit him and broke his nose. The doctor put a fork like thing into his nostrils and asks are you ready? He said for what? And with that the doc violently shakes the fork horizontally back and forth to reset his nose. Maloney passed out immediately. But his beak was straight when they woke him up.
Korab's first game in the barn was against the Bruins and a bench clearer breaks out. Kong looked at Billy Reay who nodded his approval. So with gloves off and stick down he walks to the end of the bench where everyone thought he would step through. But instead right by the door Ray Spider Man McKay is fighting with Derek Sanderson. And Kong picks the Turk up by the lettuce and the Spider Man had himself some fun bangin away.
Old time hockey boys and girls. That building was the greatest. |

So, is King a good listener? Or is he a weak leader letting the players run the show?
I guess the results will determine the answer. |

Doesn't hurt to listen and try (especially if what you're doing isn't working), but he'll qualify as a weak leader to me, at least, if he tries this for a few games/PPs, and it doesn't improve, and he sticks with it.

Boy, you guys are bringing back some memories for me. Maloney, Korab, Pinder.
I do remember a game in Buffalo when Korab was on the Sabres and play was in the Sabre zone. Dennis Hull was standing either behind the net or in front and I have know idea what Dennis had done to Jerry but Korab threw his gloves off, reached over the net, grabbed Dennis by the sweater, dragged him ti his side of the net and proceeded to pound away.
Korab had a nice career. Most of the best years in Buffalo. I wondered who the Hawks got for him and dug up this from Hockey Reference.
May 14, 1973: Traded by the Chicago Black Hawks with Gary Smith to the Vancouver Canucks for Dale Tallon. |

And Hawks management gave him sweater #9. This right after the Golden Jet signed with Winnipeg of the WHA. Tallon looked at the sweater and supposedly said " Where's the decimal point?" before settling on #19.

The Habs traded Backstrom to the Kings for basically nothing. This made the Kings just good enough that Oakland ended up with the worst Record, who’s #1 was owned by Montreal. That choice was Guy Lafleur. Sam Pollock was probably the best GM ever. |

A washed up 34 year old Backstrom was traded to LA for a first round pick who happened to be Guy Lafleur. Sam Pollock taking advantage of a new GM of an expansion team. That’s why it’s so important the Hawks get the right GM and coaches in place.
And I have the opposite issue, I remember poop from 40 years ago and forget what I had for last night dinner, this morning’s breakfast and I even once forgot my anniversary, that didn’t go over well. |

The Vancouver Giants are thrilled to announce that three-time Stanley Cup champion Brent Seabrook has joined the team as an interim, volunteer assistant coach. He'll be on the bench with the team tonight in Kelowna.
Go Seabs! I think (hope) he'll be a great coach given his locker room reputation. |

I saw Slavin play a few times with the Chicago Steel. I think he might stick around longer than you think Theo.
Plus, Slavin is one-third of my dream 4th line for the future, Slavin, Entwistle and Slaggert. - scottak
Slaggert has a bit higher upside than as a 4th liner, imo. |
