I do frequent the Oilers thread once in a while as well. Those guys are not nearly as nice as Canuck fans.

A Monahan year is like three of anyone else's with the injuries he's had in the past.

I think you're overvaluing Monahan. Draft capital is the name of the game and teams aren't likely to give up valuable 2nd round picks for a guy that's been a poor skater by NHL standards his whole career and is getting worse.

But I dont think 2nds are over evaluating. Trying to remember the site(not a Flames site) but rumour was Debrusk, 2nd & Vaananian for Monahan. Skip the meh prospect & get that extra 2nd. Problem with Debrusk is his qualifying offer is like $4.85 mill, at least Chucky's is pretty fcked but at least he plays top line. In fact Chucky/Lindholm & Gaudreau are one of the best performing top lines in the league. Chances are we are flipping Debrusk for like a 5th rounder if he doesnt do much more than he has in Boston lately.

I look at Debrusk in the same was as Bennett. He'd always be a bubble player but Sam did see an uptick when he was traded (mind you to a strong Panthers roster), maybe a change would be good for Debrusk?
