Covid has, and will be everywhere for the rest of our lifetimes. Do not fall into the box of fear that lets others control you

There is not one player on this team that is in the “elite” category. Not one. Hasn’t been for years. It matters.
- BroadSTmayhem

Giroux isn’t that far removed from 102 points. He might not be considered elite right at this moment but I’ve felt like he’s been on an island along time. I don’t care what it’s believed we have in Couturier or had in Jake.

Meh. That's like being the best drywaller on This Old House.

And anyway, I'd put others above him. Ginger Baker, Bonzo, Keith Moon (maybe a few more). Peart was absolutely technically outstanding, but perhaps not quite dynamic as these guys. Though he's maybe in the top 5... definitely in the top 10. However, I admire him much more as a lyricist. And I really liked him as a motorcyclist, and his writings on his travels and experiences in that realm of his life.

- Bendecko
To each his own style wise I guess. I would say he is the best technically. Saw him from 10 rows back during the Moving Pictures tour. The dude was mesmerizing. Drum solos are usually just fill in, but his solo was jaw dropping. He also didn't get enough credit for some of his off the wall lyrics like you said.

I love the drumming on Subdivisions. It's almost as if he is playing lead drums. It carries the song.

I don't buy this idea that Comcast doesn't give a crap. The Flyers attendance average has been pretty consistent. The only real significant drop was a few years ago and that was due to Covid. They fired Hextall and said that they want to be a cap team and they want to win. So it's not as if they aren't paying what they can pay to players. I don't at all doubt that they want to win. They're just misguided in how they're going about it.
-MJL

And there it is folks, the agenda of MJL ... it always comes back to Hextall's firing. This guy has ZERO credibility in regards to anything he says about Fletcher or management!

They might hold him to under 5 points.

If we're going to continue going OT on the drummers, this is a great solo for a simple 3 piece set. It starts around 4 min in. Satana live at Tanglewood.

What's really there is again, your lack of understanding of what is being said. The poster claimed that Comcast doesn't care about winning. My point was that if that was true then they wouldn't have cared about the rebuild taking as long as it did and they wouldn't want to be a cap team. As usual, your tunnel vision has led you astray. Instead of first realizing the actual point made and addressing that. You attempt to turn it into something that it isn't. Further embarrassing yourself.

Neil Peart, God rest his soul, was THE greatest drummer you will ever see. I saw Rush live 82 times over my lifetime and played in a band that played several Rush songs for over 10 years. You either love or hate Rush, but I will tell they were the conglomeration of 3 of the greatest musicians ever put together in a band, on par with Zeppelin. The things they all could do with their instruments night after night was mind blowing and super inspirational.

Nobody could bang the skins like Bonzo. Drum solo in Moby Richard is absurd. So sad he was gone at 32.

I'm not absolving the moves Fletcher made, but he wouldn't be making those said moves if ownership didn't push the envelope and make them a cap team.

His drumming makes that song, and the limb independence in the opening part is off the charts. Its a relatively simple song for Rush, but Neil's drums send the song to a different level.

The PK is really not that good. The percentage is where it is because of goaltending. With the amount of chances and high danger chances they give up. They are at the bottom of the league. If the goaltending slides, so will that number.
Losing Voracek and the qualities that he brings to the ice is a huge reason why the team is struggling to create offense. The GM did not replace that. He brought in the wrong kind of defenseman in Ristolainen and did not replace it forward wise. Ellis, if he can stay in the lineup helps but he isn't going to solve everything.

- MJL

Correct. He completely ignored the offense. All he talked about was defense defense defense. Didn't exactly address that all that well either.

This GM is not good. He is not the answer or the solution to get this team where they need to go. whether that is is selling or becoming a contender

No if anyone should be embarrassed its you, with your constant badgering of the coaching and GM of this team. And whether you want to admit it of not, you are completely biased because you are pissed Hextall got canned before his plan was able to come to fruition, you have said this many times! You don't think that your obvious contempt of Fletcher has nothing to do with this?

I do not have an issue spending up to the cap. They have the money and I want them to invest it in the team. I do have an issue with giving long term deals to players that do not warrant long term deals.

I think the Flyers have signed a few young players that need to live up to there deals.

Provy, TK, Farabee, etc. need to show me they are worth what they are getting paid.

- mickel25

It is a problem when a meh player like Kevin Hayes hits ufa and bends the flyers over backwards in negotiations because of the action mandate our GM has

tired of the ownership is forcing the GM to make moves excuse. The moves he made haven't worked. That is on the GM. This fanbase and organization always with excuses.

Flyers always been a cap team so this is nothing new in anyway.

When you have so many holes its really difficult to fill all of them in one off season, that is just fact. Defense still wins championships and that is true in the NHL. The Flyers were the worst defensive team in the league last year, so this was the obvious thing to fix. Fletcher did address the offense to a certain degree, he swapped Jake for Cam to get more shots an goal scoring into the lineup, and signed Farabee and Couts to extensions so they could play freely without any contract issues hanging over their head. He was also hoping that Frost would be ready as well as other players from the Phantoms the 2nd part of this season. Frost looks like he might be able to stay with the team now, and unfortunately Foerster and Allison got hurt which clearly sets back his plans. Fletcher also got Ellis and Yandle to help drive the PP and increase scoring. So IMO Fletcher did a lot the help the offense this past off season.

It's a nice change from being the Flyers apologist that I've been accused of being before. Yes, I'm pissed that the team didn't follow through on what was the best approach and chance that they had to be a true contender with an open window over a considerable period of time. My contempt for Fletcher and for Dave Scott has to do with them both moving the team in a direction that is not going to work. That they have this team in the worst position a team can be in. It's not a bias, it's reality. Not to mention the embarrassment that the press conference was yesterday.

As far as you are concerned, you're not interested in discussing the actual merits of my opinion because you know how wrong you've been and you can't handle that it's looks like I'm right and have been right. Instead you're easily influenced by unreliable and uninformed sources and have latched onto this Hextall schtick.

Call me an optimist, but every time I think the Flyers will get blown out they show up and play a good game. I think they will play a good game tonight and come out with at least 1 point.

Again reiterating that I'm not a musician or an expert in any way on music, so excuse me if I use the wrong terms or descriptions. I like drummers that play with extensive drum fills such as Moon, Peart, Bonham and Baker. Versus a drummer who just keeps exquisite time and beat such as Charlie Watts or Steve Ferrone.

any thoughts on Lucky Lehrer or Spit Sticks?
