Nice spin but that is not what you said. You said it in plain language. Even referencing the Rangers. The Flyers are old and slow. ITS TIME FOR A REBUILD.

You did not say it's time for a rebuild if things don't turn around. The evidence is clear.

- MJL

Yes I said this and I stand by it. Regardless of whether or not this team turns it around this year, the team as a hole is old, slow and lack top-end talent. My God, this is what I have been saying for 2 years now in fact, there is nothing different here. I never said this team was going to win a cup this year, only that I hoped they would make the playoffs and win a round or two, take a step in the right direction. But overall, this group right now is not close to prime time, not in today's NHL for the reasons I just gave. I have not waivered on this opinion in the slightest! This is a NO-SPIN zone!

If you are trying to compete and win why are you always trying to trade young players? If I was GM I would be trying to compile a team that is winning now and will continue to win in the future. I would not be compiling talent in the hopes that they have value to other teams in the future. Obviously, if you have good players other teams will want them.
- mickel25

Who said anything about always trying to trade young players? The point is that if your team is not good and you don't have the right mix, you have flexibility with young players. While with older and aging declining players, you're going to have trouble. It's the complete opposite of what you've been saying.

It had absolutely nothing to do with being hard to work with or shutting people out. That's invented nonsense. It was about winning.

There are only two takes from that press conference yesterday. Fletcher either was spinning and lying directly to the fans. Or he is incompetent. Either way, it was a disgrace.

You left out that Ristolainen continues to be the mediocre players he has always been in the list of what is killing this team.

- MJL

It had a lot to do with that. That is not the flyers culture. There were plenty of stories about it in the aftermath. Crossing broad did a good one on it, Bill did a good one on it too. You just chose to ignore it

Good. Now we have cleared up that Black Hand was correct and maybe you owe him an apology. Laughably ironic that your claim that this a NO-SPIN zone is exactly that. SPIN!

The Hayes injury report did not come until later in the summer. All summer long when the deals were made, you were lauding the deals. How the GM changed the culture and added all the right pieces. Including with Yandle.
- MJL

Yes, again, I loved the deals Fletcher made and I stand by those statements! But I also said once Hayes got hurt and knowing it would be very difficult for Frost to be ready given he missed the entire season, that the Flyers had a hole at center. It is possible I said both things you know! And for the record I never said anything about Yandle one way or the other. I actually was hoping York or Zamula would start the season but clearly they were not ready either so it was the right move, even though Yandle is not working out.

I don't owe anyone an apology ... what the office clown tried to do is spin something I said into something else ... and he was wrong!

Much of this is inaccurate and we have an example just today. How you didn't recall properly what you said just yesterday.

So even when confronted with the exact statement and link as evidence of what you said. You're still going to claim that he was wrong? That's special.

I agree but that doesn't mean they don't want to win. They made the moves they made because they want to win.
- MJL

they want to win sure. Though like Captain comfortable it isn't a priority. Though what is "winning" to them? What gets them the $$ they need to win as that is the bottom corporate line.

NO! Not in the slightest! You're just mad because I demonstrate to everyone how little you know about actual hockey, how biased you are with your man crush on Hextall, what little credibility you have, and how you attempt to spin things to make others look bad. Everyone on this forum knows it, not just me.

why is it so important that you try and prove him wrong with every statement he makes?

I'm not getting not yet another RR debate with you. I am rooting for him to succeed and you are rooting for him to fail miserably because we traded away a 1st round pick for him. I'm ready to move on ..

Nothing unfair about this.

Again, are you asking me if I still like the moves Fletcher made this off season? If so the answer is YES and I explained why in the post you are referencing. That is a different question than did Fletch fill every hole on this team, a very different question. I have stated consistently that Fletcher took a step in the right direction, but that more steps were needed. So honestly, you can try to spin this any way you like, but I know exactly what I stated and when, and I'm sorry if this is just a little over your level of comprehension right now.

Good advice. In Florida we learned to live with Covid instead of living in fear. Each chooses their own level of protection. Florida has had no mask mandates or lockdowns for 18 months. Yesterday they reported the lowest rate per capita of new cases than any other state...(notice you don’t hear any of this from the media). Freedom is a wonderful thing.
- Djapana

Since Covid hit us (official starting date is Jan 21, 2020), Florida ranks 44th out of 50 (6th worst) in the death rate and 15th out of 50 (15th worst) in the case rate among US states.

All data from CDC, available here

This is not because it is performing more tests. It is right in the middle of the pack in testing rate (same data source) It is so, however in spite of the fact that Florida essentially has no winter, when cases tend to spike in colder states, and in spite of the fact that Florida does not count non-residents (of which it has a huge fraction) that test positive in its official stats.

The reason it is faring relatively better is because cases now are heavily concentrated in places that have gotten cold.

Funny how you will never hear such elementary facts from guys who use their freedom to live in alternate reality worlds.

Being realistic, this team has no depth that would allow them to overcome the losses of Hayes, Ellis, and Brassard. Even with them they are a playoff bubble team at best in the Metro. If they had at least some success during the past decade I could deal with it, even enjoy as they rebuild...cause there is some fun in that. Problem is as I've said so often they haven't been relevant for a very long time. One has to look at the top of the food chain here. Ownership is a corporate entity that looks at the team as a cat would a stuffed mousey. Not anything more than a toy. Ed Snider lost his mojo after the cap was instituted, but at least he really cared. This continues to be a hollow shell of what was. We are a mockery, I want them to stop peeing on my leg and telling me it's raining. Sell the team to someone who actually gives a crap!
- DANCER

I agree...corporate ownership that doesn't care about the performance of this team os at the root of the problem....sell this team!

I wonder why a state that people retire to would have a lot of deaths attributed to covid?

Could it be that it affects the eldery?

just spitballing here
